Experiential tourism is becoming a trend chosen by many tourists, especially those who love to explore nature and learn about local culture. In that context, eastern Taiwan (China) has emerged as an attractive destination, not only because of its beautiful natural landscape but also because of its activities associated with traditional cultural life and the friendliness of the local people.

Areas such as Hualien, Taitung and Yilan are pristine areas with little urbanization. With a harmonious combination of mountains, forests, seas and indigenous cultures, this place is truly a “paradise” for those seeking authentic experiences.

A hunting and gathering performance of the Bunun people.

One of the representative destinations is the Bunun tribe in Taitung. Located in Taoyuan Village, Taitung County, this is a tourist area that combines the cultural traditions of the Bunun people with modern experiences. Visitors can both watch and participate in traditional cultural performances of the Bunun people.

In addition, visitors can practice archery in the ancient Bunun hunting style, helping visitors better understand the survival skills and philosophy of living in harmony with nature of the mountain residents. Activities such as leather carving and weaving are also organized so that visitors can try their hand and make souvenirs with strong local cultural imprints.

Cuisine is also a highlight not to be missed. Typical dishes such as wild boar grilled with forest leaves, bamboo tube rice and millet wine distilled by the locals themselves, bring rich, rustic but charming flavors. This is not just a meal, but also a story about how people here utilize and preserve natural resources in a sustainable way.

Experience cycling through rice fields.

Visiting Chi Shang town, visitors cannot miss the experience of cycling among the green rice fields rustling in the wind, following the small roads winding like silk ribbons through the fields. This place is famous for “Mr. Brown Avenue” - a simple but poetic asphalt road, which appeared in a famous coffee advertisement and has since become a tourist symbol of the region.

On your journey of discovery , you will encounter the “lonely tree”, also known as the “Kim Thanh Vu tree” (because this tree once appeared in a Chi Shang rice commercial, starring famous actor Kim Thanh Vu), standing tall in the middle of the fields, an indispensable check-in spot for anyone who loves nature and cinematic frames.

At the end of the journey, visitors can visit Taipei City and visit the famous symbol - Taipei 101 Tower. With a height of more than 500m, this was once the tallest building in the world and still plays an important role in the commercial and entertainment center of this island. From the observation deck, the panoramic view of the dynamic city will spread out before your eyes, as a final highlight for the emotional journey.

Unlike the bustling cities in the west of the island, the east opens up another world, where nature remains pristine and pure, and people live slowly, in harmony with the land and sky. This is an ideal land for those who want to "temporarily turn off" the industrial pace of life, to listen to the breath of the mountains and the sea, to feel the deep connection between people and nature.
