According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, export enterprises in Ca Mau province have exploited the opportunities brought by FTAs quite well to promote increased export turnover to the markets of member countries of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Thanks to taking advantage of opportunities from FTAs, the export turnover of Ca Mau province from 2019 to present has reached over 1 billion USD. In the first 10 months of 2024, the province's export turnover is estimated to reach over 1 billion USD, an increase of 9.94% over the same period in 2023; of which, aquatic products are estimated to reach over 968 million USD, an increase of 12.23% and fertilizer exports are estimated to reach over 101 million USD, a decrease of 10.09% over the same period last year. In the coming time, the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and branches will continue to pay attention to supporting export enterprises to expand market share in traditional markets, especially searching for and opening new potential markets. In 2024, the province plans to organize 2-3 trade promotion events abroad such as in Europe, China and some other markets to introduce, promote and export the province's goods. Enterprises participating in trade promotion activities abroad will be supported by the province in part for booth rental, travel, accommodation, participation in connection activities, etc. On the other hand, the province will strengthen coordination with units under the Ministry, branches, establish relationships with Trade Offices, Vietnam Trade Counselors, Vietnam Trade Promotion Offices abroad to collect information on markets, importing enterprises, mechanisms and policies of countries, tariff reduction roadmap, technical barriers in trade, anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and trade defense lawsuits; forecast the supply and demand situation of goods and services to promptly disseminate to enterprises to respond and limit risks, facilitating access and market expansion. Mr. Nguyen Chi Thien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ca Mau province, added that the province effectively implemented solutions and tasks of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the State Bank of Vietnam on credit for exports in the area; timely and fully provided capital for enterprises participating in the export supply chain (production, supply of raw materials, processing, export) when eligible for loans. The Department of Industry and Trade focuses on promoting the dissemination of information about FTAs to businesses and industry associations through organizing conferences, seminars, training courses, electronic information portals, social networks, and newspapers to take advantage of opportunities, overcome limitations and challenges, and maximize the advantages of FTAs that Vietnam has signed such as: Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans- Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), etc. The Provincial People's Committee also organized many meetings to discuss and remove difficulties for seafood exporting enterprises, remove difficulties in attracting investment in super-intensive shrimp farming in the locality; in which, the "Business Connection Coffee" program is held periodically every Saturday, which is an opportunity for provincial leaders and departments, branches, units, and localities to meet, talk, and remove issues that businesses are interested in. Ca Mau is one of the leading localities in the country in seafood export, especially shrimp is the main export item of the province. Seafood export turnover accounts for nearly 90% of the total turnover of the province, shrimp alone accounts for over 80%. Ca Mau's seafood export market is diverse, spread across 5 continents, with more than 60 countries and territories. Currently, some export markets have high proportions such as the United States, EU, Japan, Korea, China, Australia, Canada.
