In studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, many exemplary individuals have emerged in Dong Ha City, demonstrating dedication and responsibility to the community, including Mr. Nguyen Tan, Commander of the Military Command of Dong Luong Ward.

Mr. Tan (45 years old) is recognized by local officials, Party members, and the people as a shining example of responsibility, closeness to the people, and dedication to the people, especially in supporting and contributing to the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the ward. As a capable and dedicated grassroots military officer who consistently sets a good example in carrying out his assigned duties, Mr. Tan has excellently fulfilled his local defense and military responsibilities for many years.

During the period 2021-2024, Mr. Tan proactively advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the ward on the comprehensive and effective implementation of combat readiness tasks, the building of militia forces, training, exercises, and logistics and technical work. With his creativity and enthusiasm, he participated in numerous competitions for training models and teaching aids, achieving high results. Many of his innovations, such as the "Multifunctional chair for training grounds" and the "Multifunctional splint for temporary fixation of fractures," have been effectively applied in practice.

What is most noteworthy and touching is Mr. Tan's active and responsible participation in the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, a major task identified by the Party Committee and the government of Dong Luong ward as a priority in the poverty reduction and social security program in the locality. From the beginning of 2025 until now, the entire Dong Luong ward has simultaneously implemented support for 9 poor and near-poor households and policy beneficiary families with difficult circumstances to repair and build new houses.

As the Commander of the Ward Military Command, he mobilized labor and materials, and effectively coordinated the repair and construction of these new houses. During the 2025 militia training period alone, he directed the integration of civilian affairs work with professional duties, mobilizing militia forces to contribute over 112 man-days of labor, directly assisting in the construction of houses for the aforementioned households.

A prime example is the housing project for Mr. Nguyen Van Manh in Tan Vinh neighborhood. Mr. Manh is a poor, single man living in a dilapidated house that was unsafe during the rainy season. His house was far from the residential area, and access was difficult. Therefore, Mr. Tan, as the head of the assistance team established by the ward, mobilized manpower to dismantle the old house, build roads, assist with transporting materials, and provide water sources to create the best possible conditions for building a new house for Mr. Manh.

With the allocated funds, donations from the people and social organizations, and the contributions of the militia, after more than a month of intensive construction, the new 50 ^m² house was completed, bringing great joy and hope to Mr. Manh and the people in the neighborhood.

According to Vo Thi Thanh Thuy, Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Luong Ward, Mr. Tan is a dedicated and responsible official with a spirit of commitment and closeness to the people. In the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, Mr. Tan directly went to the affected areas with the forces, contributing his efforts and spreading the spirit of solidarity, love, and sharing to the community.

To further improve the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, the Ward Party Committee has directed the strengthening of mobilization and social mobilization efforts to provide additional assistance in terms of labor, materials, and funding; and simultaneously established a support team to best assist in the construction and repair of houses for the people. As a result, in addition to budget support, the ward has mobilized 3 tons of cement and over 200 million VND from social sources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

With the motto "Leaving no one behind," thanks to the efforts of the entire political system and the active contributions of dedicated officials like Mr. Tan, Dong Luong ward is gradually realizing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, improving the quality of life for the people, and contributing to building a more civilized, prosperous, and beautiful Dong Ha city.

For many years, Mr. Tan has been awarded the title of outstanding grassroots emulation soldier; he has received commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the Minister of National Defense . Mr. Tan's example is not only a vivid testament to the spirit of "serving the people" but also an inspiration for every cadre and Party member to follow, fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh's teaching: "Whatever is beneficial to the people, we must do our utmost to do." Mr. Tan's quiet but meaningful contributions are helping to make people's lives more meaningful.
