Strengthening inspection and post-inspection of fake and poor quality food

The Interdisciplinary Steering Committee for Food Safety of Phu Yen province has just sent an official dispatch to the departments of Health, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Police and the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities on implementing the Prime Minister's telegrams on handling the case of production and trade of counterfeit medicines, health protection foods and production and distribution of fake milk.

In particular, the Phu Yen Province Food Safety Interdisciplinary Steering Committee requested the Department of Health to step up inspection and supervision of compliance with food safety laws by food production and trading establishments; strengthen management measures for food trading establishments to only buy and sell foods that have been granted a certificate of registration for product declaration/self-declaration, with invoices and documents of origin in accordance with regulations; strictly handle violations... At the same time, the Department of Health continues to promote information and communication activities on the risks and harms of using fake health protection foods and fake milk; closely coordinate with the Provincial Police in investigating and handling cases of counterfeit goods trading; instruct localities to immediately review and recall fake health protection foods and fake milk that have been discovered, promptly prevent and minimize the harms of using fake and poor quality foods...

The People's Committees of districts, towns and cities direct local authorities to strengthen the inspection and supervision of establishments trading in health-protecting foods and dairy products; closely monitor the organization of seminars introducing functional foods according to the provisions of law; strictly handle the exploitation of product introduction seminars for medical examination and treatment, illegal consultation, sale and introduction of functional foods as medicines. Propagate and guide people to only buy health-protecting foods and dairy products in general, especially dairy products for children under 36 months old, milk for pregnant mothers to use according to the manufacturer's instructions, carefully check product information, encourage the purchase of dairy products from reputable companies on the market. Publicize the names of violating establishments, violating products, and violating content on mass media.

Previously, the Department of Health sent an official dispatch to the Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Medical Centers of districts, towns and cities about strengthening the inspection and post-inspection of fake and poor quality food. Review, inspect and coordinate with local competent authorities to recall all 12 fake food and nutritional products (in the form of powdered milk) that are still on the market. The Provincial Center for Disease Control, the Medical Centers of districts, towns and cities proactively coordinate closely with local authorities to strengthen propaganda work on mass media to guide local people to avoid buying fake health protection foods, health protection foods that have not been granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration by the Food Safety Department, poor quality health protection foods... It is recommended that people should not use 72 milk products that are under further investigation of Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, Hacofood Nutrition Joint Stock Company until the final conclusion of the police agency.
