Banks join hands to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses

Responding to the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025, Phu Yen Banking sector has joined hands with local authorities to support poor and near-poor households to build new houses. The houses of love built not only help people in difficult circumstances to settle down but also give them more confidence and determination to rise up in life.

The active participation of banks in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses contributes to the effective implementation of social security policies, leaving no one behind.

Lighting up faith from loving homes

Mr. Tran Van Minh's family in Long Uyen village, An Dan commune (Tuy An district) has just moved into a new house in joy, excitement and the congratulations of neighbors. The old house's uneven ground has now been replaced by a new house with a tiled floor, brick walls and tiled roof.

“The old house was dilapidated and had to be sheltered from the rain and wind every night. I never dreamed that I would one day live in a spacious house like this,” Mr. Minh said emotionally. With the support of 60 million VND from Sacombank and additional contributions from family and relatives, along with the help of neighbors, after more than 1 month of construction, Mr. Minh’s family’s house was completed to the “3 hard” standards - hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof, helping the couple feel secure and stable in their lives.

In Can Luong village (An Dan commune), the family of Ms. Vo Thi Kim Suong also shared the joy of having just completed the house of Love and Gratitude, which was supported by a 60 million VND sponsorship from Sacombank Phu Yen . Ms. Suong said: “I am old and weak, often sick, and have to take care of a young grandchild who is in elementary school. My grandchild and I have been living on monthly subsidies from the State for a long time, so I never thought about having a new house. Now that we have received support to build a house, my grandchild and I are very happy.”

Tuy An is a coastal district with many difficulties. In particular, the situation of temporary and dilapidated houses is still a major challenge in the work of sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction in this locality. According to preliminary statistics from the People's Committee of Tuy An district, in early 2025, the whole district had 280 poor and near-poor households in need of support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. After that, after reviewing, the district continued to propose additional support for 62 households and was approved by the Provincial People's Committee.

In order to help people have stable housing and feel secure in developing the economy , many banks in the province have proactively joined hands with the locality to support poor households, near-poor households, and disadvantaged families to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. At the recent handover ceremony of the House of Gratitude in An Dan commune, Mr. Tran Hoang Nha, Director of Sacombank Phu Yen shared: “Through the activity of supporting the construction of Houses of Gratitude, Sacombank wishes to contribute to the local government in effectively implementing social security work and taking care of people's lives. This is one of many practical activities that the bank has implemented to spread the spirit of sharing for the community”.

The Power of Community Responsibility

Not only Sacombank, many other commercial banks also actively support people in difficulty to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Mr. Hoang Anh Minh, Director of VietinBank Phu Yen said: “Not only stopping at business activities, we always focus on social responsibility. Housing, education, health care or natural disaster support programs are all implemented synchronously by VietinBank Phu Yen, aiming at sustainable and comprehensive development in localities”.

Similarly, Mr. Truong Van Vu, Deputy Director of Agribank Phu Yen shared: “Over the years, Agribank Phu Yen has coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and authorities at all levels to support the construction of dozens of Gratitude Houses and Great Solidarity Houses for poor households, near-poor households, and policy families with difficult circumstances in the province. In 2025, we will continue to maintain this program.”

The cooperation of banks in recent times has greatly contributed to the goal of joining hands for the poor, leaving no one behind.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang, Vice Chairman of Tuy An District People's Committee

Not only does it help people have a stable place to live, the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses also contributes to improving the quality of life, creating motivation for many families to escape poverty. A new house is not only a material asset but also a source of spiritual encouragement, a "lever" to help people feel secure in developing the economy and sending their children to school. In addition, the program also promotes neighborly love, when many people are willing to contribute their efforts to build houses for poor households, creating a beautiful image of solidarity in the community.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang, Vice Chairman of Tuy An District People's Committee, commented: "The cooperation of banks in recent times has greatly contributed to the goal of joining hands for the poor, leaving no one behind. The local government will continue to act as a bridge, review the right subjects, ensure fairness and efficiency in the implementation process."

From the simple but meaningful houses, we can clearly see the power of solidarity and community responsibility. When the bank accompanies the government and the people, the seemingly distant dreams of the poor become reality, bringing a new warm and hopeful beginning.
