After 10 years of implementing the 2015 Law on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), agencies and units assess this as an important step forward in protecting the rights of workers.
Promote propaganda
In order to promptly and effectively implement the Law on Occupational Safety and Health, localities, enterprises, production and business establishments, etc. have carried out many practical activities. In particular, information, dissemination of the law and training on occupational safety and health have been promoted with many diverse and practical activities, such as organizing training courses, disseminating new documents, and providing guidance on the implementation of documents guiding the implementation of the law.
The 2025 OSH Action Month is also the peak month for OSH propaganda and implementation. Many grassroots-oriented activities are deployed simultaneously, such as dialogue, self-inspection, inspection, implementation of measures to improve working conditions, control risks, organize health check-ups, propaganda... contributing to preventing and repelling occupational accidents and diseases.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Olam Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Phu Yen, said: Implementing the plan to respond to the Month of Action for Occupational Safety and Health, our company has improved the occupational safety and health apparatus; organized risk assessments and occupational safety and health measures; provided labor protection equipment for employees; focused on building a safe working environment, minimizing toxic substances affecting the health of employees.
Mr. Phan Dai Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs, said: In recent years, departments, branches and localities in the province have promoted the implementation of documents guiding the implementation of the Law on Occupational Safety and Health, and activities in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month (May) every year. Agencies, unions and functional sectors have also proactively coordinated to promote propaganda, guidance, inspection, and building a network of occupational safety and health workers, and improving the working environment. Along with that, the legal regulations on occupational safety and health have also been relatively fully guided by the functional sectors to employees and employers. At the same time, training has been organized to build an occupational safety and health management system according to OSHAS 18000 standards for employers and officers in charge of occupational safety and health in enterprises, employees, etc.
Strengthen inspection, testing, improve working conditions
Along with the socio-economic development, occupational safety and health work in the province has changed and achieved some positive results. Departments, branches, localities and enterprises in the province continue to maintain occupational safety and health activities according to the provisions of law. Information, propaganda and training activities on occupational safety and health are implemented according to plan, creating awareness, discipline and habit of complying with occupational safety and health laws for workers. Since then, the role of workers in occupational safety and health work has been promoted, contributing to limiting and reducing damage caused by occupational accidents.
Mr. Phan Dai Thang added: In 2024, 47 enterprises provided occupational safety and health training to 8,600 people. These enterprises have also implemented measures to control and prevent occupational safety and health risks; organized health care activities, periodic health check-ups and occupational disease detection for workers. At the same time, they regularly inspected and improved working conditions, monitored the working environment and took measures to overcome unsafe working conditions for workers.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Linh, Chief Inspector of the Department of Home Affairs, there are many causes of occupational accidents, such as: employers do not develop safe working procedures and measures, do not provide personal protective equipment for employees, do not organize occupational safety and health training or provide inadequate training for employees. Machinery and equipment do not ensure safety when put into production operation... In addition, there are subjective causes of employees in violating occupational safety and health procedures and standards... "To ensure occupational safety and health, we always remind businesses to conduct inspections of machinery, equipment, materials, and substances with strict occupational safety and health requirements before putting them into use according to the provisions of law", said Mr. Linh.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Thuan, Deputy General Director of Phu Yen Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company, shared: During the month of occupational safety and health, along with organizing cultural and artistic activities, the company also coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs to train workers on occupational safety and health, in order to ensure occupational safety and health at the unit.
To contribute to bringing the Law on Occupational Safety and Health into practical life, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs Phan Dai Thang said that the province continues to implement and institutionalize the Party and State's policies and guidelines on occupational safety and health. Accordingly, encourage enterprises, production and business establishments, organizations and individuals to participate, contribute resources and implement activities to improve working conditions and take care of workers' health. Encourage employers to apply technical standards, apply advanced and modern management systems and apply advanced, high-tech, and environmentally friendly technologies in the labor process. Build a culture of occupational safety. At the same time, organize occupational safety and health training with full knowledge and skills for safe work according to regulations. In particular, focus on practical training and safe work skills for workers; carry out self-inspection at the unit; organize periodic health check-ups, early detection of occupational diseases for workers...
