Strengthening Vietnam-China medical exchanges

Attending the Conference were delegations from the Department of Health of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang provinces (Vietnam) and the delegation of the Health Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China); representatives of central health agencies of Vietnam and medical experts of 05 provinces - regions.

At the Conference, representatives of the Department of Health of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang , Tuyen Quang provinces (Vietnam) delivered speeches focusing on assessing the achievements in medical cooperation between Vietnam and China in the localities and orienting some contents of medical cooperation and exchange between the two sides in the coming time. The Guangxi Health and Medical Commission pledged to accompany the border provinces of Vietnam in expanding the scope of cooperation, promoting professional exchanges and improving the capacity of the two sides' health systems.

In the 2024 - 2025 period, medical cooperation activities between the border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi will be increasingly implemented effectively, focusing on serving the practical needs of people in border areas, contributing to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China in politics, diplomacy and humanity.

The parties agreed on many key cooperation orientations for the 2025-2026 period, including: Regularly maintaining the mechanism of annual medical exchange conferences, taking turns organizing; developing a model of cross-border medical examination and treatment and expanding the emergency mechanism at milestone 1369; enhancing medical human resources training, exchanging experts; organizing joint drills to respond to infectious diseases and medical emergencies, building a mechanism for sharing medical information across borders; cooperating in developing traditional medicine and medicinal herbs; at the same time promoting the application of technology and digital transformation in healthcare, focusing on electronic medical records, interconnected health records and disease warning systems.

At the Conference, the parties signed the Minutes of the 2025 Medical Exchange Conference. In addition, a number of sideline activities such as the International Scientific Exchange Conference on Traditional Medicine; scientific exchange programs, exhibitions displaying typical medical and pharmaceutical products and technologies... were held. In addition, delegates visited and surveyed major medical facilities in Quang Ninh province such as the Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, the Provincial General Hospital, Bai Chay Hospital and the Geriatric - Rehabilitation Hospital.

The Conference program takes place in the context of Vietnam and China celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year" 2025, contributing to strengthening cooperation between provinces/regions in the health sector, expanding comprehensive cooperation, especially in human resource training, scientific research, technology application and implementation of health projects serving the community; acting as an important forum to share experiences and improve the quality of health care for the people.

The conference is the result of the concretization of the International Cooperation Implementation Plan for the period 2024-2026 between the Departments of Health of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang (now Tuyen Quang province) (Vietnam) and the Guangxi Health and Medical Commission (China), at the same time, promoting direct bilateral cooperation between medical units under the Departments of Health of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang provinces (Vietnam) and medical units under the Guangxi Health and Medical Commission (China) for the period 2025-2026./.
