Of these, 158 foreign suppliers have registered, declared and paid taxes via the Tax Department's Electronic Information Portal with a total amount of VND5.7 trillion paid, up 41% over the same period last year. These foreign suppliers are mainly cross-border platforms providing digital services and products to consumers in Vietnam.
Notably, 100,000 households and business individuals have registered, declared and paid taxes on the Electronic Information Portal dedicated to this group of subjects, with the total tax paid reaching nearly 1.1 trillion VND in the first 5 months of the year.
In addition, the tax authority also recorded that nearly 93,000 organizations and individuals with e-commerce business activities in Vietnam have fulfilled their tax obligations, with the total tax payment reaching 67.6 trillion VND, accounting for the majority of the total tax revenue from the digital economy sector.
Regarding the management and handling of violations in e-commerce business activities, the tax sector has reviewed 164,661 taxpayers with signs of e-commerce activities. As a result, the tax authority has collected and handled violations from businesses with a total amount of over 416 billion VND; at the same time, collected taxes from 25,201 individuals and business households, with a total amount of over 331 billion VND.
Increasing the application of digital technology , expanding online tax declaration and payment channels, and strictly controlling cross-border e-commerce transactions have helped tax authorities gradually better control revenue sources arising from the digital economy.
