Jewish cargo ship seized in Gulf of Aden

On November 26, the US confirmed that the warship USS Mason responded to a distress call from the chemical tanker Central Park in the Gulf of Aden. The ship had been previously seized by armed men but is now safe.

The US side has not identified the attackers.

This is the latest in a series of attacks that have occurred in waters around the Middle East since the outbreak of conflict between Hamas and Israel on October 7.

Previously, on November 19, Houthi forces in Yemen announced that they had captured the Galaxy Leader cargo ship owned by an Israeli businessman in the Red Sea. The Houthis even affirmed that they would continue to attack ships owned by Israeli companies.

Central Park is a small chemical carrier, 19,998 tons deadweight and built in 2015.

The Central Park is currently operated by Zodiac Maritime Ltd. Notably, Zodiac Maritime is an international ship management company headquartered in London (UK) and owned by the Ofer family in Israel.
