One of the two unnamed officials said the Houthi claim was “inaccurate.”

Earlier, the Houthis said they had attacked the Eisenhower in the Red Sea and planned to achieve their goals, but did not explain in detail. This is the second attack announced by the Houthis against the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the Red Sea in less than a month.

The first attack was reported on May 31. The US military did not comment.

In addition, Houthi also admitted to attacking the commercial ship Transworld Navigator in the Arabian Sea, but did not announce the time of the attack.

According to the Houthi statement, the Transworld Navigator was hit directly by a missile.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have continuously used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and missiles to attack ships traveling in the Red Sea that they believe are linked to Israel in order to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.

In more than 70 attacks, the Houthis have sunk two ships, captured another and killed at least three sailors.
