According to Mr. Do Huu Phuong, Deputy Director of Tay Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment, units are focusing on reinforcing dikes at 23 locations with a total length of about 110 km, in communes such as Vinh Chau, Khanh Hung, Hung Dien, Tuyen Binh and Hau Thanh. The total cost of implementation is over 6.2 billion VND from the 2025 irrigation public utility support source. The implementation of the projects aims to urgently support localities in flood prevention and protection of people's agricultural production.
Up to now, more than 30% of the workload has been deployed. The locations have basically reinforced the flood control of the dike surface, safely handled the landslide prevention of the dike toe, ensuring agricultural production and the lives of people in the flooded areas.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh, in recent days, floodwaters have risen on rivers and canals in the Dong Thap Muoi area of the province. Many canals have overflowed the dikes, local authorities have had to mobilize forces, vehicles and people to continuously reinforce and raise the dikes to prevent floods.
Initial statistics of Tay Ninh's agricultural sector show that in many locations, the water level was about 50 cm higher than the same period in 2024. Many dikes were overflowed and broken, causing floodwater to flow into the fields, damaging nearly 252 hectares of rice in Tay Ninh province, of which nearly 230 hectares were completely lost; 22 hectares of fruit trees and vegetables were also affected, mainly concentrated in communes such as Khanh Hung, Vinh Thanh, Vinh Chau... In particular, the whole province has more than 7,200 hectares of Autumn-Winter rice and 100 hectares of Winter-Spring rice at risk of being flooded and damaged by floods.
