Tay Ninh: Dike breaches continue to occur in Dong Thap Muoi

Accordingly, the dike section in Hamlet 7 was broken with a width of about 5.5 meters, the dike body was 4 meters thick, surrounding the production area of more than 150 hectares of Hoa Phat Cooperative.

The broken dike section is about 5.5 meters wide and 4 meters thick.

The newly sown rice area, 20 - 30 days old, is located next to the broken dike area.

The area where the incident occurred mainly protected harvested rice fields, but was adjacent to many newly sown rice fields of 20 to 30 days old. In this situation, the local authorities mobilized all forces and coordinated with local people to urgently reinforce the broken dike section.

Measures implemented to fix the problem

Chairman of Vinh Thanh Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hong Kha said that the water level measured during the night continued to rise by about 3cm, about 50cm higher than the flood peak in 2024. Faced with the complicated developments of the flood situation, the commune government has stepped up propaganda, mobilized forces and people to protect rice and fruit trees, but as the water level continues to rise, some production areas have been affected.

Forces and people overcome dike problems

Currently, in Vinh Thanh commune, there are still more than 390 hectares of unharvested rice. Up to this point, the dykes have been temporarily reinforced and are basically stable. However, with the forecast of continued water level rise, the local government and people are still maintaining forces on duty and proactively taking response measures to protect production./.
