From that strategic orientation and vision, key investments have been made in transport infrastructure planning, increasing regional connectivity and creating a breakthrough in attracting investment.

Synchronous investment and regional connectivity

When the planning of Thai Nguyen province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, has not been approved, the Department of Transport has proactively coordinated with agencies and units to prepare and advise the Provincial People's Committee to approve local adjustments and supplements to the Transport Development Planning of Thai Nguyen province for the period after 2020.

Currently, the provincial planning has been approved by the Prime Minister , the Department of Transport and the Department of Planning and Investment have been advising the Provincial People's Committee to deploy investment in the construction of important traffic routes to concretize the plan for developing the transport network. The investment in the province's transport infrastructure is in a synchronous direction, increasing regional connectivity along the axes. In the period of 2021-2025, the Department of Transport has proposed and advised competent authorities to approve the policy of implementing 11 public investment projects with a total investment of 6,779 billion VND.

The highlight of the key traffic projects being implemented is the Thai Nguyen Ring Road V, which is part of the Ring Road V planning - Hanoi Capital Region approved by the Provincial People's Committee in July 2017, implemented in the period of 2017-2020, with a total investment of VND 966.4 billion. The project has a total length of 9.16 km with the starting point in Nga My Commune (Phu Binh), the end point connecting to Yen Binh Intersection (Pho Yen City). The completed route creates the backbone for the 8,000ha Yen Binh Complex, connecting National Highway 37 with the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway. The project has shortened the distance from Phu Binh District to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway from nearly 30 km to 10 km.

Along with that, the project of connecting and linking Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc provinces was started on May 12, 2022, with a progress of 30 months. The total length of the route is 42.55 km, of which the main route is 36.51 km, the branch route is 6.04 km. The route passes through Pho Yen city and Dai Tu district (connecting with Bac Giang province at Hoa Son commune, Hiep Hoa district; Vinh Phuc province at Ngoc Thanh commune, Phuc Yen city), the end point of the route is at Ky Phu commune, Dai Tu district.

The completed project will form an axis connecting Thai Nguyen province with Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc, opening up new development space for Pho Yen city and Dai Tu district, the eastern area of Tam Dao.

Attracting big investors

The completion of the V Ring Road, which coincides with the East-West Highway, in addition to shortening the distance from Phu Binh district to the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen expressway, has also attracted projects to be implemented along this route.

Mr. Duong Dai Dong - Director of Phu Binh District Land Fund Development Center said that the province's policy of investing in the V belt road has promoted investment attraction and the formation of industrial parks and clusters in the area. Along the V belt road, which coincides with the East-West Highway, the investors of the two industrial clusters Bao Ly - Xuan Phuong and Hanh Phuc - Xuan Phuong are speeding up the progress.

Currently, Phu Binh Urban Service Industrial Park with an area of over 900 hectares is under construction near this route. On the Ring Road V, the Phu Binh section connecting to Bac Giang province is under construction. The Provincial People's Committee has decided to establish 4 industrial clusters: Ha Chau 1, Ha Chau 2, Tan Duc and Luong Phu - Tan Duc, with a total investment of over 2,700 billion VND. This is the basis for Phu Binh to focus on attracting investment, shifting the economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industry, and soon completing the basic criteria to become a town before 2025.

For the project of connecting routes, connecting the provinces of Thai Nguyen - Bac Giang - Vinh Phuc, along the route are currently planning the Tay Pho Yen industrial - urban - service area, Minh Duc industrial cluster, Pho Yen city. The project helps connect Glory golf course in Thanh Cong commune (Pho Yen city), Quan Chu industrial cluster, Cat Ne - Ky Phu industrial cluster, 2 golf courses in Quan Chu town (Quan Chu golf course cultural and sports complex and golf course sports area in Quan Chu town and Cat Ne commune) of Dai Tu district and Nui Coc Lake National Tourist Area.

Many key traffic projects

Thai Nguyen is currently implementing many key traffic projects. These include: Project to upgrade and expand the Relay Road from Yen Binh intersection to Yen Binh Industrial Park; the route connecting National Highway 37 to DT.269B; the route connecting DT.261 to DT.266 and Upgrading and expanding the route from Km31 (National Highway 3) to the ATK Dinh Hoa National Special Historical Site. In the second quarter of 2024, the province will continue to start two new projects: Ring Road I, Bo Dau - Hoa Thuong and the Road connecting DT.265 (Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai) to Bac Giang.

In fact, favorable traffic infrastructure conditions, along with open and transparent investment attraction policies, have made Thai Nguyen a bright spot in the midland and mountainous region of the North with strong economic growth and a destination for many potential foreign direct investors. Developing key traffic routes demonstrates Thai Nguyen's long-term vision in investment attraction policies in the coming period, helping the province quickly achieve the goals set out in the 20th Provincial Party Resolution.

Thai Nguyen province has a northern traffic axis running in the North-South direction: National Highway 3 Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan; National Highway 37 Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang... (already invested in the previous phase). The horizontal axis of Ho Chi Minh road is being invested and the western vertical axis connecting the Bac Giang - Thai Nguyen - Vinh Phuc inter-region is being invested. These are the main routes, helping to connect the development of industry, agriculture, services and culture of Thai Nguyen to the regions and areas in the Northern region.
