Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW identifies the development of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as key tasks, with the goal of developing the digital economy , digital society, improving labor productivity and innovating the growth model. In particular, the publishing industry needs to take advantage of scientific and technological achievements, especially digital technology, to strongly innovate the entire publishing value chain, from production, distribution to reception and reader experience.
According to the Information & Communication Publishing House, Vietnam has a population of over 100 million people, a fast economic growth rate, a young and dynamic population, and the ability to quickly access digital technology , creating a favorable environment for the development of the digital economy in general and the digital publishing industry in particular. Digital transformation is a breakthrough factor that helps the Vietnamese publishing industry overcome traditional challenges such as market limitations, printing and distribution costs, creating new opportunities to expand reader reach, diversify products, improve quality and business efficiency. The publisher is operating three digital platforms: the printed book publishing platform Book365.vn; the digital publishing platform Ebook365.vn; and the national essential e-book and newspaper platform Sachdientu.vn. These platforms have proven effective in supporting digital transformation, expanding the market, improving reader experience and ensuring the rights of stakeholders. At the same time, the Publishing House has proactively cooperated with leading domestic and foreign technology experts to apply advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and advanced security to the platform system.
To accelerate the process of building digital publishers, a number of key solutions need to be implemented synchronously. First of all, it is necessary to invest in technology infrastructure and human resources through building data centers, upgrading security and organizing training on digital transformation, AI and cybersecurity. At the same time, it is necessary to build an open ecosystem, creating conditions for flexible connections between local publishers, educational technology startups, libraries and training facilities; at the same time, it is necessary to encourage the development of diverse digital content products such as audiobooks, podcasts, AR/VR books.
In terms of technology, publishers need to prioritize the application of core technologies such as AI to automatically check spelling errors, suggest suitable titles, build a chatbot system to support customers 24/7, as well as personalize content recommendations based on user behavior and interaction history. Strengthening international cooperation will expand the development space for Vietnamese digital publishing, aiming to link with major e-book platforms in the region, contributing to bringing Vietnamese books to the international market.
