Not only effectively applied in teaching, Ms. Thu Linh also won many awards, including initiatives included in the Golden Book of Vietnamese Creativity.
Math students love Computer Science
Thu Linh's journey to IT began when she entered university. At that time, Thu Linh was a student majoring in Mathematics Education at Dalat University, but she also registered to study subjects in the Information Technology Education major. "My course, Math and Information Technology were general subjects, then students were allowed to choose subjects majoring in Mathematics or Information Technology. I was the only student who chose to study both majors," Thu Linh recalled.
After graduating from university in 2010, Ms. Thu Linh stayed in Da Lat to teach and continue her master's degree in Mathematics. After graduating with her master's degree, this young teacher returned to Dong Nai to teach at an international school before transferring to teach at Tam Phuoc Secondary School.
During her 15 years of teaching, Ms. Thu Linh has never stopped improving her knowledge and skills in IT to apply effectively in teaching.
In addition to her university computer knowledge, Ms. Thu Linh also participated in online courses provided by Microsoft. Since 2016, this teacher has actively joined the Vietnam Creative Teacher Community, participated in the Creative Teacher Competition on IT platform and had a product that entered the national round. This is a competition organized by the Ministryof Education and Training in collaboration with Microsoft Vietnam.
Ms. Thu Linh is working on a project to apply IT to teaching for the flipped classroom model. She uses an online interactive platform to reward, motivate, and encourage students; parents can join this class to grasp their children's learning situation and results. For lessons, she designs e-learning, using interactive videos for students to learn in advance at home; in class, there are experiential activities, project learning... for students to absorb knowledge better.
When she has completed the full set of Microsoft certificates, she can apply them more to teaching and also guide students to self-study Microsoft courses to get certificates (internationally recognized); they also use IT skills to participate in school activities, provincial and ministerial competitions...
Share IT application skills with colleagues
When participating in the Creative Teachers Community, effectively applying IT in teaching, Ms. Thu Linh guided her colleagues in the school to participate in Microsoft IT training courses. She is also a positive factor, promoting Tam Phuoc Secondary School to build a Digital School.
Currently, Tam Phuoc Secondary School is implementing Digital School on the Microsoft platform. All teachers and students of the school are provided with an educational account, completely free of charge. This is a convenient platform for teachers and students to apply AI in learning and teaching.
According to teacher Thu Linh, each educational account is also an AI virtual assistant. Teachers can apply this AI in preparing lessons, finding ideas, collecting documents, planning, writing speeches, announcements, designing pictures and videos, serving as teaching equipment... Students can use AI to directly serve their studies without getting lost in the forest of information on the internet environment.
Ms. Thu Linh started applying AI in teaching in early 2024. At that time, the use of AI was still quite unfamiliar to teachers, so she had to "find her way as she went". Seeing many good things, she asked the Board of Directors to organize a workshop and invite experts to train teachers on applying AI in teaching.
Also in 2024, Ms. Thu Linh was a teacher who directly taught classes and was sent by the Department of Education and Training to attend the training course "Improving digital capacity for general education teachers" organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. Thus, from a normal teacher, Ms. Thu Linh became a core IT teacher to retrain teachers in the province on digital transformation in schools.
In 2023, the Digital School Operation solution on the Office 365 platform to help students develop their autonomy and self-study capacity according to the 2018 general education program implemented by Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Linh and Ms. Pham Thi Nam (then Principal of Tam Phuoc Secondary School) won first prize in the Science and Technology Innovation Program of the Dong Nai Union of Science and Technology Associations, was selected to participate in the national competition and was included in the Vietnam Golden Book of Creativity.
