Thai Nguyen launches the first animated film built on a digital platform

Cricket: Adventure to the Swamp is a 100% 3D animated film, with the direct participation of students from the University of Information and Communication Technology - Thai Nguyen University.

On the evening of May 26, in Thai Nguyen City, Thai Nguyen Province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen Province organized a program to report on the Digital Film Studio Project and screen the film "Cricket: Adventure to the Swamp".

This is the first product of the digital film studio model created by the cooperation between the University of Information and Communication Technology - Thai Nguyen University and CinePlus film studio, aiming to create breakthroughs in exploiting technology and culture.

The film De Men: Adventure to the Swamp Village tells the story of the adventure of two brothers De Men and De Trui in the Swamp Village, where dangers constantly lurk before the curiosity of the cricket brothers. Overcoming many dangers, friendship and solidarity are praised. The work also conveys a contemporary message when mentioning the issues of recycling and climate change. In addition to the attractive plot, the film also incorporates musical elements. In which, folk materials and traditional musical instruments are cleverly arranged with a strong Vietnamese color.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Ha Anh Son, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cineplus said, De Men: Adventure to the Swamp is an animated film produced 100% using 3D technology, with the direct participation of students from the University of Information Technology and Communications - Thai Nguyen University in many stages of production and communication, under the guidance and active support of Cineplus experts.

As an adaptation of the original work The Adventures of a Cricket by writer To Hoai, the film does not simply retell the old story. Based on the plot, the production team has adapted it to suit modern tastes, expanding the world of characters and incorporating action and music elements with a touch of international cinema while still preserving the humanistic spirit of the original.

In particular, many unique images in this film are imbued with the land and people of Thai Nguyen such as: tea hills, local trains, natural landscapes and lifestyles in the Northern midlands... are subtly integrated from an artistic perspective, which has contributed to strongly promoting local history, culture and tourism.

Digital film studio is both a solution and a product of Thai Nguyen province in implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW in the field of art, focusing on promoting the development of digital art, directly contributing to the development of Thai Nguyen's digital economy.

The digital studio is located at the University of Information and Communication Technology - Thai Nguyen University with infrastructure including 1 building, graphics processing system and specialized film studio. The digital studio not only has cultural significance but is also a valuable practical training environment for students and young people in Thai Nguyen. Students from universities in the province have been trained and participated in the production process to help improve their skills and gradually form a creative human resource ecosystem right in the locality.

This model of combining training and practice not only retains the source of brainpower but also contributes to reducing the "human resource drain" to large cities, thereby building a sustainable foundation for the knowledge economy in Thai Nguyen.

According to the plan, from 2026, it is expected that each year the digital studio will release at least 1 film work on the cultural and historical theme of Vietnam. In addition to films, the products of the digital studio are also series, comics, digital entertainment systems and especially a young, well-trained, practical workforce to supply the Vietnamese and international markets.

On May 30, 2025, the movie De Men: Adventure to Xom Lay Loi will officially premiere in theaters nationwide. This is not only a cinematic event, but also an important milestone affirming Thai Nguyen's position on the map of Vietnamese cultural and technological creativity.
