On May 27, the Ministry of Health requested Shopee and Lazada to remove information about a series of functional foods that have not been granted a certificate of product declaration registration.

On May 27, the Food Safety Department ( Ministry of Health ) announced that through post-inspection of the implementation of regulations on registration of declarations and self-declarations, production and trading of functional foods, the unit discovered that a number of functional food products belonging to the group of health protection foods were being advertised and traded on e-commerce platforms Shopee and Lazada without being granted a certificate of registration of product declarations.

Specifically, the products include:

- Omega 3-6-9 1600 mg

- Natto Kinase 4000fu

- Estroven - Complete Multi - Sympton

- Kirkland Glucosamine 1500 mg & Chondroitin 1200 mg

- Glucosamine 1500 mg With MSM 1500 mg.

To ensure the health and rights of users as well as the production and trading of functional foods in compliance with legal regulations, the Department of Food Safety requests Shopee Company Limited and Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited to urgently review the business and electronic transactions of functional food products, only allowing the trading of functional food products that have been granted a Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration by a competent state management agency or have been announced on the Food Safety Update Data Information System according to regulations.

"Immediately stop trading and remove information about the above products," the leader of the Food Safety Department requested in an official dispatch recently sent to these two companies, and the two units must send a report to the Department before May 30.

Health protection foods are products used to supplement the daily diet to maintain, enhance, improve the functions of the human body, and reduce the risk of disease.

Recently, the Food Safety Department discovered that many functional food products have not been granted a certificate of registration of the declaration or a certificate of advertising content but are still advertised and sold on e-commerce platforms, websites, and social networks; even some products containing banned substances are still widely sold.
