On the afternoon of March 27, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen received a delegation of the Workers' Party of Korea led by Mr. Kim Song Nam, Alternate Member of the Politburo, Head of the International Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, State Councilor, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of Korea, who is visiting and working in Vietnam.
At the reception, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen welcomed Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam and the delegation to visit Vietnam, taking time to visit Ho Chi Minh City in the context of exactly 5 years since the visit to Vietnam of Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un in February 2019.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen thanked the DPRK for its support and solidarity for Vietnam's cause of national liberation and nation building; emphasizing that the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City always cherish the traditional friendly and cooperative relationship between the two Parties, two Governments and peoples of the two countries.
Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country have been implementing the common perception of Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, established during the visit; gradually realizing action programs, promoting the development of relations between the two countries.
Overviewing the socio-economic situation of Ho Chi Minh City, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that despite many adverse impacts, the city has adapted and taken advantage of opportunities, achieving a growth rate of 6.6% in the first quarter of 2024. However, Ho Chi Minh City needs to make more efforts and strive to recover, worthy of being the economic locomotive of the whole country, the city named after beloved Uncle Ho.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen informed Kim Song Nam, Head of the International Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, about organizing a delegation to visit and work in North Korea in June 2024, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and North Korea (1950-2025); at the same time, he wished to cooperate with North Korean localities, thereby creating more opportunities for exchanges and expanding investment between businesses, investors and people of Ho Chi Minh City and North Korean localities.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that there is still much room for cooperation and exchange with North Korean localities to promote increasingly good relations between the two countries.
Expressing his delight at visiting and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam was surprised to see the development achievements of Ho Chi Minh City under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam hopes to further strengthen the implementation of the common perception of the leaders of the two countries during the visit to Vietnam of Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un; and promote cooperative relations between the two Parties and two States.
Thanking the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for choosing localities of the DPRK to expand exchanges and cooperation in the coming years, Head of the International Department of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam hopes that local leaders of the two countries will further promote their roles and responsibilities in building close ties, contributing to further improving the relationship between Vietnam and the DPRK./.
