The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has just submitted a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on a project to improve the quantity and quality of public toilets in the area.

Accordingly, implementing the direction of Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong on the "Project to improve the quantity and quality of public toilets in Ho Chi Minh City in the period of 2024-2025", the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has submitted a specific plan on renovating and building new public toilets in the area.

Specifically, according to the draft project to renovate public toilets, Ho Chi Minh City currently has 2,165 public toilets, of which 283 are in areas such as parks, sidewalks, bus stations, water ports, train stations, etc., and the remaining 1,882 toilets are in service establishments such as supermarkets, shopping malls, gas stations, markets and offices.

Currently, many public toilets in the city have seriously degraded and do not meet quality and standards. Many of these toilets have not been used for a long time, the facilities are degraded, and they are only cleaned periodically. There are no operators, so the quality is poor.

Accordingly, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee that by the end of the first quarter of 2025, 80 existing toilets that have degraded and do not meet quality standards will be upgraded, including 38 toilets in public areas and 42 toilets in service establishments.

By the end of the third quarter of 2025, 172 new toilets will be built and 500 service establishments will be encouraged to use toilets.

By the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, continue to operate and maintain existing public toilets, and at the same time mobilize 600 service businesses in each district, county, and Thu Duc City to use toilets, and continue to search for suitable locations to build new toilets.

Regarding investment forms, units research and choose public toilet investment forms suitable to local conditions using state budget capital and socialized capital.
