The teacher... teaches preschool.

(QBĐT) - Originally an office worker at a kindergarten, Cao Van Chuong, driven by his love for children, decided to pursue a university education, nurturing his dream of becoming a teacher. After graduating in 2020, he was recruited to teach at Trong Hoa No. 2 Kindergarten (Minh Hoa). Since then, this extraordinary teacher has been dedicated to this borderland and the children along the Giang Man mountain range.

A heart full of love for children

Born into a farming family in Tan Loi village, Yen Hoa commune (Minh Hoa district), Cao Van Chuong (born in 1983) showed early talent in singing and dancing and regularly participated in school's cultural activities. His passion for the arts and love for children meant that many children in the neighborhood often came to his house to play, learn singing, and dance.

In 2010, Mr. Chuong was hired as an office worker at Tan Hoa Kindergarten. Despite working in an office, he became a key performer at the school and in the commune whenever there was a performance. Thanks to his artistic talent and working at the kindergarten, his love for children grew even stronger. Mr. Chuong recounted: “During my free time, I often went to the classroom to watch the kindergarten teachers teach dance and songs to the children. During recess, seeing the children happily running after the teachers made me love children even more and dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher.”

Driven by his love for children, in 2015, Cao Van Chuong decided to study early childhood education at Quang Binh University. Chuong recounted: “Back then, my family and friends strongly opposed it. They had always thought that teaching early childhood education was a job for female teachers. But I was determined to pursue my passion. The class was all female, and sometimes I found it difficult to fit in, but I was determined to see it through.” In 2019, Chuong graduated with honors and in 2020 was recruited to teach at Trong Hoa No. 2 Kindergarten…

The special teacher

When he first started his job, Mr. Cao Van Chuong was assigned to teach at a remote village in Do hamlet, part of Trong Hoa No. 2 Kindergarten. Do is the furthest village from the commune center, with a limited level of education and countless difficulties and hardships for the people and students. But with his love for his students, Mr. Chuong gradually overcame these difficulties.

Mr. Chương's lessons always bring joy to the children.

Teacher Chương recounted: “The school in Bản Dộ village is very basic. My kindergarten class has 29 children of two different age groups, so the work is extremely difficult. The students here often suffer from intestinal illnesses, so they frequently come to class with fever and stomachaches. Each time this happens, I have to clean up by myself. Therefore, every time I go to class, I have to bring medicine, a few spare sets of clothes, towels, tissues… to bathe the children. When it's cold, many children skip school, so I have to go to each house to encourage parents to try to send their children to class…”

After a year working in Bản Dộ, Mr. Chương was transferred to the central location in Bản Ra Mai. Cao Thị Trang, the deputy principal in charge of Kindergarten No. 2 Trọng Hóa, said: “Mr. Chương is a highly qualified professional who loves his job and cares deeply for children. Outside of class, he actively helps the teachers make toys for the children. He handles all the most strenuous manual labor at the school. The school is currently providing him with further training to participate in the district-level excellent kindergarten teacher competition in the near future.”

During my conversation with Ms. Cao Thi Trang, I heard the teacher's voice echoing from the classroom. "Today, children, we're learning: 'I love the workers.' I hope that in the future, you will all become skilled workers to build houses and concrete roads for our village!" The children responded in unison: "Yes, sir!" And the singing of the teacher and students rose into the vast forest...

Nguyen Huu Tho, Head of the Education and Training Department of Minh Hoa District, affirmed: "Teacher Cao Van Chuong is the only male kindergarten teacher in the district. Despite being a man, he is very passionate about his profession, loves children, and has excellent expertise, so he is loved by his colleagues, students, and parents. I hope that in the future there will be more male kindergarten teachers, going to remote villages to teach, bringing love and care to the children of the local people like Teacher Chuong – that is something truly commendable…”

Watching Mr. Chuong teach in class, I saw in him every kind and affectionate gesture when the children cried, teaching them dance moves, feeding them spoonfuls of rice and sips of water, or warming them up to sleep on freezing cold days, like a loving father caring for his children.

“To teach preschool children, in addition to the knowledge I learned at school and from my female colleagues, I also learned how to care for children from my wife. Even though we live in a remote border area and the children are all from ethnic minority communities, the class is always full, and that is my joy and happiness,” teacher Cao Van Chuong confided.

Overcoming many difficulties, Mr. Chuong and the teachers of Kindergarten No. 2 in Trong Hoa still diligently stay at the school and in the classroom to "nurture" the young sprouts in the Giang Man mountain range. And the happiness of this special teacher is seeing the innocent eyes and pure smiles of the children in this border region growing up healthy day by day...
