Pilot high-tech marine farming in open sea area of Khanh Hoa province

On May 24, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee officially launched and deployed the HDPE cage model for marine farming in the open sea area in Cam Lap commune, Cam Ranh city and launched the High-tech Marine Farming Pilot Program.

This is the first time the HDPE cage model (aquaculture cage with a frame made of high-quality plastic) has been piloted in the open sea area of Khanh Hoa province. The program is part of the pilot project to develop high-tech marine aquaculture developed by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Khanh Hoa province in coordination with the Research Institute for Aquaculture III, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development .

Accordingly, 10 households will receive support from Vingroup 's Thien Tam Fund with HDPE materials and modern automation systems. All cages are equipped with underwater camera surveillance systems, marine positioning systems, and 24/7 remote monitoring on all electronic devices; the farming models will be equipped with automatic feeding machines, moving towards an industrial farming model. After a one-year pilot phase, the project will be summarized and evaluated, serving as a basis for further expansion in the future.

Speaking at the program, comrade Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee emphasized: “The pilot project to develop high-tech marine aquaculture in Khanh Hoa is one of the key tasks to develop the marine economy, with the orientation to complete the planning of aquaculture areas, aiming to convert 100% from traditional cage farming to HDPE cage farming, industrial farming in offshore areas, applying high technology and developing offshore with modern management methods by 2030”.

According to Mr. Le Tan Ban, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Khanh Hoa province, the implementation of the pilot model of high-tech marine farming will have the effect of changing the production methods of aquaculture farmers, not only creating more jobs, increasing income for people but also contributing to environmental protection, minimizing risks, beautifying the landscape combined with eco-tourism in Khanh Hoa province.
