HCMC candidates confident, ready for 10th grade entrance exam

At many examination councils in Ho Chi Minh City, many groups of students came to complete procedures showing excitement, joy and confidence in preparing for the important exam.

According to a report from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, 76,435 candidates registered for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2025. Of which, the total target is 70,070 students, achieving an admission rate of about 91.7%.

Thus, there are only more than 6,000 candidates who failed to pass the public school entrance exam, a sharp decrease compared to the level of about 20,000 candidates in previous years. Meanwhile, the private school system has nearly 19,500 places.

The number of 9th graders has decreased significantly compared to previous years, which means less competitive pressure to enter public 10th grade.

At the examination council of Nguyen Du High School (District 10), candidate Gia Nghi (Lu Gia Secondary School) shared: "The exam day is near, I am very worried. But with the encouragement from friends and family, I am calmer and more confident, preparing mentally for the exam day."

"After listening to the exam regulations, I remembered the important points and carefully prepared my personal documents. I am ready to take the exam tomorrow," said Hong Minh (Nguyen Van To Secondary School).

Not only To, most students shared that they reviewed with a positive spirit, looking for exam preparation materials to consolidate knowledge in preparation for this important exam.

Many candidates appear confident and ready for the next two days of exams.

During the first few days, many parents and students were quite nervous when they came to the registration points.

Nguyen Ngoc Hong, a 9th grade student at Le Quy Don Secondary School, shared: "I really want to get into my favorite school, but I also feel worried because this year's exam has many good candidates. I hope all procedures go smoothly so that there are no problems that affect my psychology."

Many candidates had different moods inside the examination procedure rooms.

Candidates attentively listen to the invigilator instructing on the exam regulations and procedures.

Staff at registration points make every effort to guide candidates in preparing all necessary documents, and answer questions related to the registration process and related procedures.

This year's 10th grade public entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place from June 6 to June 7 at 142 exam sites (including 132 regular 10th grade exam sites and 10 specialized 10th grade exam sites) with a total of 3,277 exam rooms.

To ensure the exam takes place seriously and safely, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has mobilized 9,548 teachers to invigilate the exam and 1,846 support staff, applying the same security procedures as the national high school graduation exam.
