On Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th), Hanoi's streets were filled with fresh flowers for sale. Compared to normal days, flower prices remained stable, with no sudden price increases.
As in previous years, the demand for flowers to express gratitude to teachers increases significantly around Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20th). Fresh flowers are sold not only in flower shops but also on the sidewalks of many streets.

According to a survey conducted by reporters from the Industry and Trade Newspaper on many major streets in Hanoi such as Xuan Thuy, Chua Lang, Tran Xuan Soan, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Nguyen Trai, etc., fresh flowers are being sold in a wide variety, and flower prices have only increased slightly, not dramatically like in previous years.
A stroll around flower shops in the Chua Lang area (Dong Da district, Hanoi) reveals that a bouquet of fresh flowers like carnations or lilies costs from 200,000 VND; roses are cheaper, ranging from 160,000 to 250,000 VND per bouquet; while eye-catching flower baskets can cost from 400,000 VND to several million VND.

According to Mr. Hoang, the owner of a flower stall on Chua Lang Street, although prices have increased compared to last year due to the impact of the storm, people are still buying and placing large orders in advance.
"Besides fresh flowers, this year our shop has also imported some more affordable options like artificial flowers, suitable for students. As for parents, they still prefer flower arrangements or fruit baskets," said Mr. Hoang.

Mr. Hoang further shared that for custom-made flower arrangements, the shop will create them based on the price the customer provides, with some arrangements costing 400,000 - 500,000 VND, while others can go up to 1,500,000 - 2,000,000 VND.

Ms. Tham, the owner of a flower shop on Thuy Khue Street in Hanoi, said: “Even though flower prices have increased slightly, we still care about our student customers. To keep prices affordable for them, we have flexibly adjusted prices, reducing the price of a bouquet of roses from 180,000 VND to 150,000 VND, almost the same as last year.”

At Viet Long's flower shop on Tran Xuan Soan Street, Hai Ba Trung District, roses cost 25,000 VND/flower, hydrangeas 25,000 VND/flower, sunflowers 25,000 - 30,000 VND/stem, lilies 35,000 VND/stem; bouquets cost from 200,000 - 300,000 VND, and flower arrangements decorated with various flowers cost from 300,000 - 500,000 VND.
According to Mr. Long, due to increased demand, the number of students buying and ordering flowers online has increased fivefold compared to normal days. While flower prices have increased slightly this year for November 20th, many types of flowers remain at their usual prices.

Walking around the Nguyen Phong Sac and Xuan Thuy areas (Cau Giay district, Hanoi), you'll find dozens of shops side-by-side, offering a wide variety of flowers, with prices only slightly increasing by about 20-30% compared to normal days.
Thuong Huyen, a student at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, said: “ Every time I buy flowers for my friends' birthdays, a medium-sized bouquet costs around 100,000 VND, and a larger one costs from 200,000 VND. Today, a small bouquet costs 150,000 VND or more .”

As for Phuong Chi, a student at the University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, she advises balancing flowers and gifts to suit the budget of students.
“ Instead of buying flowers, our class unanimously decided to buy notebooks to minimize costs. Although flowers are a reasonable choice for teachers, given our student income, we had to consider a more appropriate gift ,” Phuong Chi shared.
