Purchasing power increased strongly, the market was bustling

With just a few days left before the new school year officially begins, Ms. Vuong Thi Hoai’s family in Tan Mai Ward has already bought each of their two children a new bike. The eldest daughter, who is entering 10th grade, was given an electric bike to go to school 5km away from home, while the youngest son, who is entering 6th grade, has a new bike. Ms. Hoai shared: “Before, my husband and I had to take turns taking our children to and from school, but now that they are older, it is much more convenient for them to go to school by bike.”
Not only Ms. Hoai’s family, thousands of parents in Nghe An also took advantage of this time to buy transportation for their children to go to school. Streets with many shops such as Quang Trung, Le Loi, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Canh Chan… have been bustling with buyers and sellers in recent days. According to records, the number of customers has doubled compared to the first months of the year.

Mr. Tran Dinh Tien, owner of Thang Minh motorbike and electric bicycle chain in Quynh Luu commune and Hoang Mai ward, said: “The demand for buying bicycles and electric motorbikes this year has increased very high. Since the beginning of summer, we have imported 3 billion VND worth of goods, hundreds of vehicles, of all types. On average, we sell 25-30 vehicles per day, many hot models are currently out of stock.”
Not only buying new, car repair and refurbishment services are also doing well during this time. Mr. Nguyen Nam, owner of a car repair shop in Hoang Mai ward, shared: "The number of customers bringing their cars in for maintenance and replacement of spare parts has increased sharply. Each car costs from 200,000 to 400,000 VND. Due to overload, I have to hire more workers to keep up with the service."

According to shop owners, purchasing power is mainly focused on electric bicycles and electric motorbikes, which are suitable for school-age children, are both safe and cost-effective. In particular, many parents choose electric vehicles instead of traditional gasoline motorbikes because of their reasonable price, no need for a driver's license for small-capacity vehicles and low operating costs.
Rich designs, promotional incentives
To meet the increasing purchasing power, many stores have proactively imported a large number of vehicle lines with diverse designs and prices. Prominent brands such as Giant, Nijia, Aima, Yadea, VinFast , Pega... are sold in a variety of colors, modern and youthful designs, suitable for young people's tastes. Meanwhile, electric bicycles have a common price of 12 - 18 million VND, with popular models such as VinFast Ludo, Impes, DK Tron or Pega Zinger +. Higher are electric motorbikes, priced from 18 - 30 million VND, of which the most prominent are VinFast Evo, Feliz; Yadea Oroda; Pega S... These lines use high-end engines, can travel more than 100km per charge and reach speeds of up to 80km/h.

Ms. Bui Thanh Truc, owner of an electric motorbike shop in Do Luong, said: “Compared to previous years, this year electric motorbikes have a variety of models, luxurious designs like scooters, and prices suitable for parents’ budgets. In addition to imported motorbikes, domestic brands have also greatly improved their quality to meet consumer demand.”
In the traditional bicycle segment, the price range of 800,000 - 1.8 million VND/unit is chosen by many parents for their children in secondary school. "For students aged 10-14, choosing a bicycle is optimal because the distance from home to school is not far, ensuring safety and physical training. The store has all kinds of bicycles from Chinese mini bicycles to Thong Nhat and Viet Nhat mini bicycles, prices depend on the model and type.

In addition, there are electric-assisted vehicles (e-bikes), which combine the pedaling power of the driver with the support of an electric motor. These vehicles often have the ability to adjust the speed, helping users easily control the speed and level of assistance to suit their needs and terrain. However, the price is quite high," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, owner of an electric vehicle and electric bicycle supermarket in Hoang Mai ward.
Notably, this year’s market has witnessed fierce competition in terms of promotions. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, owner of an electric vehicle and electric bicycle supermarket in Hoang Mai ward, revealed: “We have applied many policies to stimulate shopping during the back-to-school season: giving away helmets, gift vouchers worth 1-5 million VND, and lucky draws. On average, we sell more than 30 vehicles per day.”

In addition, many dealers also offer low-interest installment sales and quick procedures to help parents easily buy vehicles for their children. Car manufacturers also focus on after-sales service, extending the warranty period to 1-2 years, expanding the network of maintenance stations, helping customers feel more secure when choosing. The diversity of products and preferential policies have made buying electric vehicles during the back-to-school season not only a necessity but also a "boost" for the local consumer market.
However, along with the joy of shopping, the most important thing is safety. When buying a car, parents need to choose a reputable store, a car with a clear origin, and full invoices to facilitate registration according to regulations. In addition, it is necessary to remind children to obey traffic laws, especially wearing helmets to ensure safety for people and vehicles when traveling...
