Nearly 700 targets short of 10th grade, but Dak Lak cannot reduce the failing score to 0

Việt NamViệt Nam03/07/2024

After exactly 10 years of studying, Dak Lak has just reorganized the entrance exam for grade 10 (school year 2024-2025). In the 10 school years from 2023-2024 and before, Dak Lak province recruited grade 10 students by considering transcripts, only recruiting for specialized schools. However, the benchmark scores for the 2024-2025 school year were very low. Among the 12 schools that took the entrance exam, there were many schools with a grade 10 admission score of only 5-6 points for 3 subjects but still lacked nearly 700 targets.

Faced with this situation, many schools are asking to reduce the failing score from 1 to 0 to meet the enrollment quota. However, according to Ms. H Yim Kđoh, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, the public 10th grade enrollment plan for the 2024-2025 school year will not change. The province does not accept requests to reduce failing scores in any case: "For schools that organize 10th grade entrance exams but do not meet the quota, schools should not lower the standard score to meet the quota, and should not consider admission based on scores to supplement the missing quotas," Ms. H Yim Kđoh emphasized.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province, in the 10th grade entrance exam in the province, there were 1,887 failing scores, of which Math accounted for the majority with 1,799 failing scores, Foreign Language had 14 failing scores and Literature had 74 failing scores.
