From July 2025, when the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces merge, the new organizational structure will quickly stabilize and operate effectively. With 7 specialized departments and 10 affiliated units, more than 500 officials and employees are working towards a common goal: building a dynamic, professional, and integrated Culture, Sports and Tourism sector.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated the efforts and creativity of the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the past period.

The merger has expanded the development space vertically from the Central Highlands to the South Central Coast. Dak Lak has become a connecting point between the highlands and the sea, between the vast forests and the potential coastal strip, a strategic development direction that helps exploit inter-regional strengths, promoting cultural, sports and tourism cooperation along the highland-coastal axis.

It's not just about organizational restructuring; it's also a test of leadership capacity and innovative spirit. The Party Committee of the Department, with 312 members, has been strengthened, fostering unity and discipline; young cadres have been given opportunities, demonstrating a spirit of daring to think, daring to act, and daring to take responsibility.

In 2025, Dak Lak will mark a series of large-scale cultural, sports, and tourism events such as: the 50th anniversary of the Victory of Buon Ma Thuot, the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival, the exhibition of socio-economic achievements commemorating the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd, along with many unique art exchange programs.

In particular, the dossier "Knowledge of Coffee Cultivation and Processing in Dak Lak" has been included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is currently being nominated for UNESCO recognition as a Representative Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This is a milestone affirming the stature and cultural depth of the coffee-growing region, where heritage has become a source of pride and a driving force for development.

The sports movement has spread strongly. High-performance sports achieved 373 medals at 78 tournaments, maintaining training in 18 disciplines with 473 athletes. These results demonstrate the right direction in training young athletes and socializing sports.

The tourism sector has recorded significant growth. In the first nine months of 2025, Dak Lak welcomed approximately 6.1 million visitors, including over 80,000 international tourists, an increase of nearly 90% compared to the same period last year. Total tourism revenue is estimated at over 11,400 billion VND, an increase of over 80%. Stimulus programs such as "Dak Lak residents travel in Dak Lak" and "Vietnamese people travel in Dak Lak" have spread widely, contributing to promoting Dak Lak as a friendly, attractive destination with a rich Central Highlands identity.

Beyond simply organizing events, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak is pioneering digital transformation and administrative reform. 100% of administrative procedures are processed online, and all records are digitized. New technology applications such as the automated audio guide system at the Buon Ma Thuot Prison historical site and the digitization of artifacts at the Dak Lak Museum have contributed to enhancing the visitor experience and promoting the province's image in the digital space.

From digital transformation in management to digital communication on social media platforms, the industry is gradually turning technology into a tool for preserving and disseminating cultural values.

During a working session with the Dak Lak Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet highly appreciated the department's efforts and innovations in recent times. The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that the department has inherited and effectively promoted the achievements of Dak Lak and Phu Yen provinces before their merger, continuing to assert its position as a cultural, sports, and tourism center of the Central Highlands and South Central Coast region.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested that the sector focus on promoting investment, effectively exploiting potential and strengths; accelerating digital transformation associated with administrative reform; paying attention to the management of press and media; and strengthening the promotion of Dak Lak's image on digital platforms.

The Provincial Party Secretary instructed the Department to announce the province's new logo on January 1, 2026, develop a plan for preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage, and develop tourism into a key economic sector, aiming to build the best community tourism village in the world.

Building upon its foundation of integration and achievements, Dak Lak is affirming its strong aspiration for progress. With people at the center, culture as the source, and tourism as the driving force, this vast plateau can absolutely become a new symbol of sustainable development for the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast, where traditional identity blends with the spirit of the times.
