Attracting farmers to participate in collective economic development

Farmers' Associations at all levels in Tien Giang province have promoted participation in collective economic development, thereby attracting many members and farmers to participate. This has contributed to promoting the development of the collective economic movement in the province.

FARMERS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMUNITY ECONOMY

In recent times, the Farmers' Association of Go Cong Dong district has focused on promoting propaganda and mobilizing cadres, members and farmers to participate in developing collective economy and cooperatives in the agricultural sector. Every year, the Farmers' Association of the district has focused on coordinating with specialized departments to organize training courses, coaching and fostering knowledge on collective economy for cadres, members of cooperatives and cooperative groups (THT) who are members and farmers.

Tien Giang is focusing on implementing solutions to promote attracting farmers to participate in developing the collective economy.

In 2024, the Farmers' Association at all levels will coordinate with relevant sectors to organize propaganda, training and knowledge-building sessions on collective economy for more than 5,679 officials, members, farmers, cooperative members and cooperative groups; coordinate with the District Agricultural Service Center to organize more than 125 training courses on science and technology transfer and application of high science and technology for more than 3,000 members, farmers, cooperative members and cooperative groups. At the same time, coordinate to support and guide farmers in building demonstration models on safe crop cultivation, livestock and aquaculture according to VietGAP standards and linking production and consumption according to the value chain.

In particular, in 2024, the Association at all levels coordinated with cooperatives and cooperatives in the district to mobilize 330 members to join cooperatives and cooperatives. At the same time, a new agricultural cooperative was established in Binh Nghi commune with 25 members; a safe vegetable production cooperative in Binh An commune. Up to now, the district has 55 cooperatives with 582 members, of which group members are members and 488 are farmers, 16 agricultural cooperatives with 4,317 members, of which members are members and 1,077 are farmers.

According to the Farmers' Association of Go Cong Tay district, by the end of 2024, the district had developed 20 cooperatives, of which 17 cooperatives operated in the agricultural sector; of which 6,654 were members of the Farmers' Association. The cooperatives have helped more than 269 members of the Farmers' Association have regular jobs. The average income of members participating in the cooperative is more than 100 million VND/person/year. Through the activities of the cooperative, many efficiency has been achieved in the form of production methods associated with the value chain, applying high technology in production.

Typically, cooperatives in the communes of Binh Nhi, Thanh Nhut, Thanh Cong, Binh Phu, Dong Thanh implement the model of "Synchronized mechanization, high-tech application in rice production" in the winter-spring crop of 2023 - 2024, the capital source supports cooperative members to grow rice according to Resolution 04 of 2021 of the People's Council of Tien Giang province. Thereby, helping farmers reduce input costs, economic efficiency is higher than the traditional rice production model of more than 5.3 million VND/ha/crop. Or the model of applying high technology in vegetable production such as: "Application of smart fertilizers in corn cultivation", "Application of smart equipment in vegetable cultivation", helping to reduce 20 - 30% of input costs, increasing profits by more than 20%.

Implementing Resolution 07/2019 of the People's Council of Tien Giang province stipulating policies to support linkage in production and consumption of agricultural products in Tien Giang province, period 2021 - 2025, by the end of 2024, Go Cong Tay district has implemented 15/21 approved projects and plans. The Cooperative is the representative unit of the Farmers' Association, the investor or the leader of the linkage. The effectiveness of the linkage in the consumption of agricultural products has contributed to increasing economic efficiency for farmers through "collective buying, collective selling", limiting the situation of "breaking the deal" in consumption, agricultural products, are purchased by enterprises, helping to increase income for farmers participating in the linkage.

TO MAKE KTTT A FIRM FULLY FOUND FOR FARMERS

To promote the continued development of the province's collective economy, the People's Committee of Tien Giang province has just issued Plan 144 on the implementation of the Project "Vietnam Farmers' Association participates in developing collective economy in agriculture until 2030" in Tien Giang province.

The goal by 2025 is to advise and support the establishment of at least 5 new agricultural cooperatives and 10 agricultural cooperative groups; to consolidate and improve the quality and operational efficiency of at least 10 agricultural cooperatives mobilized, guided and supported by the Farmers' Association at all levels. At the same time, to attract an additional 5% of members and farmers to participate in collective economic organizations in agriculture; to support at least 10% of professional Farmers' Association branches and professional Farmers' Association groups to develop into cooperative groups and agricultural cooperatives. One of the important goals is to have at least 30% of agricultural cooperatives established with the support of the Farmers' Association to participate in production and business linkages with enterprises and other economic organizations; 25% of agricultural cooperatives will be supported to access credit sources...

The goal by 2030 is to advise and support the establishment of at least 10 new agricultural cooperatives and 30 cooperative groups in agriculture; to consolidate and improve the quality and operational efficiency of 20 agricultural cooperatives mobilized, guided and supported by the Farmers' Association at all levels. Of which, attracting an additional 10% of members and farmers to participate in collective economic organizations in agriculture; supporting at least 15% of professional Farmers' Association branches and professional Farmers' Association groups to develop into agricultural cooperatives and cooperative groups. At least 45% of agricultural cooperatives supported by the Farmers' Association to participate in production and business linkages with enterprises and other economic organizations; 30% of agricultural cooperatives are supported to access credit sources...

To achieve the above objectives, the solution proposed by the Provincial People's Committee is to promote information, propaganda, training, and education to raise awareness, mobilize and attract members and farmers to actively participate in developing collective economy in agriculture. In particular, the province will focus on promoting the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws on collective economy in agriculture.

One of the important solutions is to consolidate and improve the quality and efficiency of the operation of cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives mobilized, guided and supported by the Farmers' Association. The focus is on improving the effectiveness of state management of cooperatives in conjunction with the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels in developing the collective economy; developing models of agricultural cooperatives and agricultural services associated with rural industry products and key products, typical advantages of the province and the One Commune One Product Program.

The Provincial People's Committee will step up consulting, guiding, and supporting members and farmers to establish and develop cooperatives and agricultural cooperatives, and support the improvement of human resources quality of agricultural cooperatives. In particular, it will improve the quality of direction and management of sectors and levels to support the development of agricultural cooperatives of the Farmers' Association.
