Prime Minister suggests Vietnam - China prioritize promoting railway cooperation

Meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed giving top priority to promoting railway cooperation, determined to start construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route in 2025.

According to information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , on May 27 in Malaysia, within the framework of an official visit to Malaysia and attendance at the 46th ASEAN Summit and related conferences, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully conveyed the warm regards of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man , and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and senior Chinese leaders.

The Prime Minister affirmed that Mr. Xi Jinping's recent visit to Vietnam was a new milestone of historical significance and long-term strategic orientation for the development of relations between the two Parties and two countries.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and he personally are ready to closely coordinate and maintain regular exchanges with the Chinese State Council and Premier Li Qiang, promptly and effectively implementing the high-level common perception between the two General Secretaries of the two Parties.

He suggested that the two sides maintain regular high-level exchanges; strongly promote economic, trade and investment cooperation, with emphasis on promoting balanced trade; and expand cooperation in science, technology and innovation so that these fields become bright spots and new driving forces in bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister proposed giving top priority to promoting railway cooperation, determined to start construction of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route in 2025; and asked the Chinese side to pay attention to supporting preferential credit, technology transfer and human resource training.

Premier Li Qiang respectfully sent Xi Jinping's regards to General Secretary To Lam and senior leaders of Vietnam.

Agreeing with the cooperation focuses that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh mentioned, Prime Minister Li Cuong affirmed that the Chinese Government is determined and ready to work with the Vietnamese Government to implement and concretize the common perception between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries.

Agreed to increase high-level strategic exchanges, consolidate political trust; promote substantive cooperation to achieve concrete progress, especially in areas of mutual interest such as trade, high-quality investment, and railway connectivity.

The two Prime Ministers discussed and reached a common understanding on continuing to closely coordinate with ASEAN countries to maintain peace and stability in the region, promoting the early achievement of an effective and substantive COC in accordance with international law and the 1982 UNCLOS. On this occasion, the two leaders also discussed a number of international issues of mutual concern.

Early announcement of the launch of Vietnam - GCC FTA negotiations


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al Budaiwi

Also on May 27 in Malaysia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi.

The Prime Minister expressed his delight at the continued development of cooperation between Vietnam and the GCC, notably the fact that Vietnam and the GCC are discussing the early launch of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the GCC in the near future.

He asked the GCC Secretary General to support and speed up the completion of procedures so that he can soon issue a statement to launch FTA negotiations between the GCC and Vietnam as soon as possible, and study and negotiate investment promotion and protection agreements, thereby creating favorable conditions to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation.

GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi affirmed that all GCC countries value and wish to promote cooperation with Vietnam. He pledged to make efforts to promote the early launch of Vietnam - GCC FTA negotiations as soon as possible.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam and senior leaders of Vietnam and expressed his wish to welcome the GCC Secretary General to Vietnam in 2025 to promote cooperation between the two sides. The GCC Secretary General happily accepted the invitation.
