Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity

On the evening of October 30, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinated with the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television to organize the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity, 2024-2025. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Phan Dinh Trac, Member Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Member of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, Head of the Steering Committee for the award.

Also attending were Party Central Committee members, alternate Party Central Committee members, and leaders of central departments, ministries, and branches.

After 2 years of implementation, as of July 31, 2025, the Organizing Committee has received 1,110 press works submitted in 4 categories: Print, electronic, radio, television from 90 press agencies at the central and local levels. With the spirit of democracy, objectivity, impartiality, and high responsibility, the members of the Final Jury reviewed and unanimously selected 44 best works to award 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 12 C prizes, and 18 consolation prizes.

The works submitted to the 5th Award were evaluated to have content that closely followed the theme and criteria of the award. In particular, the press works focused on timely and comprehensively reflecting the Party and State's fight against corruption, waste and negativity with the motto of perseverance, continuity, no forbidden areas, no exceptions.

In addition to works reflecting the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity, reporters, journalists, and press agencies have expanded the content and topics reflecting on preventing and combating waste under the direction of General Secretary To Lam , Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.

Many works are of good quality, timely, highly investigative, demonstrating the commitment of journalists, their determination, courage and the pressure and danger that follow corruption, waste and negativity to the end. From there, they create journalistic works with a widespread effect and great social impact, bringing about effectiveness and positive changes in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity took place in an atmosphere of the whole country excitedly competing to achieve achievements to welcome the 14th National Party Congress and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 / November 18, 2025). This is an important event, recognizing and honoring outstanding press works in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, contributing to building an increasingly clean and strong Party and political system.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh - the great teacher of the Vietnamese Revolution, national liberation hero, world cultural celebrity of Vietnam, advised: "Corruption, waste and bureaucracy are the enemies of the people", a kind of "internal invader". Taking to heart his advice, our Party and State have focused on directing the drastic, synchronous and strict implementation of the "uncompromising" fight against corruption, waste and negativity with the motto of no "forbidden zones", no "exceptions" and achieved many very important and comprehensive results, which have been agreed upon and supported by the people and highly appreciated by the international community.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: Vietnam's revolutionary press has always been a vanguard force in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity. Behind each article and each investigative report is the constant creativity, the spirit of dedication, the courage, intelligence, and courageous commitment of journalists, so that the light of justice and truth can be illuminated, contributing to helping authorities investigate and handle many serious corruption, waste, and negativity cases; recovering thousands of billions of VND and hundreds of hectares of land for the State, receiving the support of a large number of cadres, party members, and people.

Also according to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, after 5 seasons of being organized, the National Press Award on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity has increasingly affirmed its position, prestige and strong influence. Promoting the success of previous seasons, this year's award continues to record many impressive "highlights" such as: Attracting the participation of a large number of journalists and press agencies, with more than 1,100 works of diverse genres, with improved quality; the works all closely follow the policies and orientations of the Party and State, the direction of General Secretary To Lam and the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

Along with that, the works are all highly topical, recording issues arising from practice, reflecting the truth, "naming and shaming", directly condemning individuals and groups with negative manifestations; many works reflect good people, good deeds, bravely fighting against corruption, waste and negativity; at the same time clearly demonstrating the supervisory and critical role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the active participation of the people in preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged, commended and highly appreciated the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vietnam Television for successfully organizing this very meaningful press award; congratulated the 44 authors and groups of authors whose excellent works were honored at the Award Ceremony, thereby making an important contribution to the fight against corruption, waste and negativity of our Party, State and people.

In the new era, the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity continues to be identified by our Party and State as a key task that is both urgent and long-term, and an important premise to promote the rapid and sustainable development of the country. With the motto of "proactive prevention, early detection, and remote detection, not allowing small violations to accumulate into major ones", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that it is necessary to continue to strongly promote the key role of the press, building a team of journalists who are "steadfast, not retreating in the face of difficulties and challenges; alert in the face of temptations; steadfast and persistent in political will; dedicated and sharp in expertise; humane in practice; resolute and brave in the fight", pioneering, exemplary, leading, and uncompromising in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity with the spirit of "steel in the pen - fire in the heart".

Along with that, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations continue to perform well the tasks of social supervision and criticism, further promoting the role and strength of the people in detecting and fighting against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity; Party committees and authorities at all levels focus on thoroughly grasping and promptly implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies, strengthening coordination, creating all favorable conditions, accompanying and protecting the press, journalists and organizations and individuals who bravely fight against manifestations and acts of corruption, waste and negativity.

Promoting the important results achieved through 5 extremely successful seasons, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the National Press Award on preventing corruption, waste and negativity will continue to innovate, create strong influence, add motivation, inspiration, and create confidence for the team of journalists to freely create, devote their talent, enthusiasm and intelligence to the cause of fighting against corruption, waste and negativity; contribute to building a professional, humane and modern revolutionary press; build a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy country in the new era.
