Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh receives former Speaker of the National Assembly of Korea

On the afternoon of July 2, in Seoul, during his official visit to Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received President of the Korea Global Innovation Research Association Kim Jin Pyo, former Speaker of the Korean National Assembly .

Mr. Kim Jin Pyo visited Vietnam in January 2023 as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and during this visit, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the headquarters of the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST).

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Mr. Kim Jin Pyo’s affection for Vietnam and his important contributions to the bilateral relationship in his various positions, especially the relationship between the two countries’ legislative bodies; as well as his support for Vietnam in the field of healthcare, especially his contributions to Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2.

Pleased to meet Mr. Kim Jin Pyo again, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Korean side for the warm welcome given to the Vietnamese delegation during this visit, affirming the affection and attachment between the two countries and two peoples.

Mr. Kim Jin Pyo thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for taking the time to welcome him during his visit to Vietnam in January 2023, and was pleased to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on an official visit to Korea - the first visit by a senior Vietnamese leader to Korea after the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022, and believed that the relationship between the two countries will develop even more strongly in the coming time.

The former Chairman of the National Assembly of Korea highly appreciated the drastic and effective direction and management of the Vietnamese Government and the strong development of the Vietnamese economy in recent times, with GDP growth in 2024 alone likely to reach 6%, the highest in the region. Mr. Kim Jin Pyo announced and proposed a number of projects and cooperation plans with Vietnam that he and the Korea Global Innovation Research Association and Korean agencies will implement in the coming time, such as continuing to support the expansion of Hue Central Hospital (following the program to support Hue Central Hospital's second facility); the plan to build a medical human resources training center in the Central region; Korean language and vocational training for Vietnamese youth, especially nursing, to be able to work in both Vietnam and Korea; exchanging experiences in applying artificial intelligence in education; supporting connections with global innovation activities, etc.

Congratulating the achievements of the Korea Global Innovation Research Association, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the proposals of Mr. Kim Jin Pyo and said that he would assign relevant agencies such as the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Education and Training, the National Innovation Center of Vietnam, and the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province to continue to discuss specifically with the Center to implement specific projects and cooperation programs.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that the Korea Global Innovation Research Association and the Vietnam National Innovation Center will enhance cooperation, exchange experiences, and participate in each other's innovation ecosystem in a practical and effective manner. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that Mr. Kim Jin Pyo will always be a close friend and support Vietnam; at the same time, he said that he is ready and wishes to meet Mr. Kim Jin Pyo again in Vietnam to review and continue to implement the discussed work, contributing to promoting the friendship and good relations between the two countries./.
