On the morning of December 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly deputies from Can Tho city had a meeting with voters of Co Do district (Can Tho city) after the 8th session of the National Assembly.

Here, sharing with voters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh spent most of his time informing about the policy of streamlining the apparatus.

According to the Prime Minister, the direction of the Central Committee, the General Secretary, the Government, the Prime Minister, and the National Assembly is to focus on summarizing Resolution 18 of the previous term on promoting the arrangement of a streamlined, strong, effective, efficient, and effective apparatus. This must be thoroughly grasped and actively implemented, without delay, and is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The Prime Minister said that "of course, streamlining the apparatus will have an impact, but for the common good and long-term benefits, we cannot help but do it."

This affects one thing, the benefits, and two, the work, as now the work has to be done more and faster. Therefore, the policy towards cadres has the general spirit of protecting the legitimate and legal interests of cadres.

"We have experience in arranging and merging Ha Tay and Hanoi, which took 5 years to complete. The spirit is to protect legitimate rights and interests. Ideological work must be clear, determination must be high, efforts must be great, actions must be resolute, and each task must be completed properly.

The roadmap from now until the end of the first quarter of 2025 must be completed, so that in the second quarter of the year, the grassroots Party congresses can be held. There is a lot of work to be done, I hope that voters will support the major policies of the Party and the State," he called.

The Prime Minister also said that the current streamlining of the apparatus through grasping the situation shows high unity within the Party and among the people both at home and abroad.

High-speed railway will come to Can Tho

Also at the meeting and recommendations with National Assembly delegates, voter Nguyen Tuan Sang requested to continue to pay attention to directing the urgent construction and completion of the infrastructure of expressways in the Mekong Delta according to the set plan. Consider adding emergency lanes on expressways to ensure the project is put into operation effectively and ensures safety for the people.

According to Mr. Sang, the National Assembly recently agreed to invest in the North-South high-speed railway project from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. It is requested that there be more specific information about this project and attention should be paid to investing in the final point not only in Ho Chi Minh City but also connecting with other major cities, including Can Tho.

Regarding this issue, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State's attention to the development of the Mekong Delta is very clear, with two major points being infrastructure and human resources.

Of which, the Government has planned to develop 1,200km of highways by 2030. By the end of this term, we will try to complete 500km, and if we can reach 600km, that would be good. The remaining part will be implemented in the next term.

Regarding the North-South high-speed railway project, the Prime Minister said that the final point will not stop at Ho Chi Minh City but also go down to Can Tho and Ca Mau. "This phase is done like that but we are continuing to study, from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, this route has the advantage of being a shortcut, requiring less land clearance. Just like the recent horizontal and vertical expressways, we have taken a shortcut, which is both beautiful and effective.

Because resources are limited, we must allocate them, learn from experience and gradually expand. The capital for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi section is about 67 billion USD, 1,435 km long, with a design speed of 350 km/h. It takes 5 hours to get from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. Similarly, extending to Can Tho must be done the same way," said the Prime Minister.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the celebration of Christmas for Catholics, right after the meeting with voters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented 20 gifts to 20 families of war invalids, martyrs, and typical Catholic families in Co Do district. In addition, the Prime Minister also presented 30 solidarity houses to poor and near-poor households in Thoi Lai district, O Mon district, and Thot Not district, including 10 households of Hoa Hao Buddhist followers.
