Prime Minister requests additional sanctions to handle celebrities who advertise falsely

On May 15, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Official Dispatch No. 65/CD-TTg on launching a peak period to fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

In order to combat, prevent, repel and eventually end smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property infringement to protect the legitimate rights and interests of people and businesses, protect security and health for people, and contribute to the country's rapid and sustainable development, the Prime Minister requested to launch a high-profile campaign to combat, prevent and repel crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, copyright infringement and intellectual property infringement nationwide.

The peak attack period is from May 15 to June 15, after which there will be a preliminary assessment.

The Prime Minister established a Working Group headed by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, with members including leaders of relevant ministries and branches.

The Ministry of Public Security directs the national police force to closely coordinate with functional forces to focus on identifying organizations and individuals suspected of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods, intellectual property infringement, goods of unknown origin and related acts, deploy professional measures to combat and criminally handle organizations and individuals who commit serious violations in order to promptly deter and warn.

The Ministry of Public Security closely coordinates with judicial agencies and appraisal agencies to organize investigation activities and thoroughly handle cases of smuggling, trade fraud, production and trade of counterfeit goods, intellectual property infringement, and goods of unknown origin during peak times, without letting them drag on.

The process of fighting must pay attention to clarifying the roles and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in the management, licensing, inspection, import-export control, circulation... of production materials and goods, strictly handling corruption and negative acts in accordance with the provisions of law with the motto "handling one case, warning the whole region, the whole field", "no forbidden areas, no exceptions".

The Prime Minister also assigned specific tasks to each ministry and sector, including requesting the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to research and supplement sanctions to handle agencies requesting advertising, agencies carrying out advertising, individuals, artists and celebrities who take advantage of their reputation to engage in false advertising, especially on social networks.
