Craft village products are highly appreciated by domestic and foreign consumers for their quality. Some of these products are exported to a number of countries and territories.
Currently, the turmeric production and processing village of Chi Minh commune (Khoai Chau) has over 160 hectares of turmeric. In addition to traditional fresh turmeric and turmeric powder products, in recent years, production facilities in the village have invested in mechanical equipment to produce more processed products from turmeric such as: Turmeric starch, Nano curcumin, turmeric milk, spices... From there, the village has expanded its domestic consumption market and boosted exports. Mr. Hoang Quang Dong, Director of Hoang Minh Chau Hung Yen Company Limited, shared: In 2012, the enterprise exported the first 12 tons of raw turmeric to the Ukrainian market. After being welcomed by foreign markets, the enterprise researched the needs of other markets such as: India, Japan, Korea... From 2019 to now, the enterprise has been a trusted partner of the Japanese market in exporting turmeric products.
To ensure that the exported products meet quality standards, the company's turmeric growing area is produced according to VietGAP process. Before planting, the company cooperates with Japanese partners to analyze soil, water and fertilizer samples to ensure the curcumin content in turmeric is high and stable. For the past 6 years, the company has maintained an average export of 100 tons of turmeric per year to foreign markets.
While many traditional craft villages in the province have temporarily stopped operating or are operating at a low level due to difficulties in output and lack of production materials, the traditional craft village of Cao Thon incense, Bao Khe commune (Hung Yen city) still exists and develops strongly.
Currently, the craft village has 136 establishments producing and trading products such as: Incense coils, incense sticks, incense sticks... Every year, the total revenue of the craft village reaches over 62 billion VND, creating jobs for nearly 300 local workers.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Khanh, Chairman of the Cao Thon Traditional Incense Craft Village Association, said: The production households in the craft village have boldly invested in mechanical equipment for production; focused on selecting safe raw materials, combining traditional Chinese medicine and natural flavors, creating a special aroma without affecting health so that the product has a firm position in the market, affirming the brand. Currently, the craft village exports to the market over 40 million boxes of incense coils, over 270 tons of incense cones, nearly 70 million incense sticks each year... Of which, about 15% of the craft village's products are purchased by businesses, ordered for export to the markets: India, Korea, Taiwan (China)...
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the province currently has over 300 enterprises participating in import and export activities; of which, there are about 15 enterprises operating in the field of agricultural product export, typically: Hoang Minh Chau Hung Yen Company Limited (Khoai Chau), Lai Hoai Company Limited (Hung Yen city), Toan Thang Agricultural Product Export Company Limited (Tien Lu), Dong Xanh Joint Stock Company (Kim Dong) ...
Recently, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant departments, branches, localities and units to create favorable conditions for businesses to invest in developing a number of small-scale industries with potential and development conditions...
Every year, the province organizes fairs to display typical rural industrial products to help businesses find business partners, purchase products and expand markets.
From 2021 to present, the province has supported 4 craft village development projects in the form of investing in mechanical equipment; supporting the construction of 4km of production roads in craft villages; organizing 20 training courses for over 1,300 people on craft village development; the provincial state budget has allocated over 13.6 billion VND/year to implement the plan to develop craft villages and OCOP products in the province... The Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the Department of Science and Technology to register trademark protection for 20 craft village products...
