Mr. Bao Van Phuong, 47 years old, used to be the main breadwinner for his elderly mother, wife and young daughter. In 2024, on his way home from work, he had a serious traffic accident, resulting in hemiplegia and complete loss of the ability to work.
“In the past, I worked very hard, just hoping to take care of my family. Now that my body is immobile, I feel like a burden to my wife and children. There were times when I felt hopeless, but seeing my wife struggling, my children sick..., I told myself to try to live, maybe there is still a chance,” Mr. Phuong emotionally shared.
Once the breadwinner of the family, after the accident, Mr. Phuong was paralyzed on one side and completely lost the ability to work.
Since her husband fell ill, his wife, Truong Thi Nuong, has become the sole breadwinner. Besides working as a hired hand and driving a motorbike taxi to make a living, she spends most of her remaining time taking care of her husband.
“He can no longer do anything by himself, from bathing, changing clothes, to turning in bed, he has to rely on me. Many nights he is in so much pain, I stay up all night massaging him, just hoping he will get better,” Ms. Nuong shared while taking care of her husband, her voice choked up.
In a family of 3, 2 people are seriously ill.
The unstable income from her hired work made her family's life increasingly difficult. There were days when she only brought home a few tens of thousands of dong after a whole day of work, or even nothing. However, the difficulties did not stop when her only daughter, Bao Truc Linh (born in 2011), suffered from a serious illness: muscle atrophy and abnormally atrophied hands.
Baby Bao Truc Linh has a strange disease: abnormal muscle atrophy, requiring long-term treatment.
“I have sold all my land and property to treat my husband and children, but their illnesses have not improved. Sometimes I feel exhausted, but thinking of my husband and children, I persevere,” said Ms. Nuong, her eyes red.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen, Cong Dien hamlet, Tran Van Thoi commune, appealed: "Mr. Phuong's family situation is truly heartbreaking. We hope that benefactors, organizations, and kind-hearted individuals will join hands to support him so that he can have the conditions to treat his illness, helping his family overcome this difficult period."
Dear donors who are interested in helping can directly contact Ms. Truong Thi Nuong at 0914145504, Dat Chay Hamlet, Tran Van Thoi Commune, Ca Mau Province. Every share, no matter how small or large, is a warm fire, adding faith and hope for Mr. Bao Van Phuong's family to overcome adversity.
