
Where heritage meets and spreads
According to Plan No. 38/KH-SVHTT, dated September 26, 2025 of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh, the first Folk Culture Festival of typical relics of Ninh Binh province will take place in 2 days in November 2025. The theme of the Festival is "Historical and cultural relics of Ninh Binh province converge and spread thousand-year values", with the consistent message "Honoring heritage - Connecting the community - Sustainable development".
The festival is organized to create a healthy cultural playground, where localities with typical historical and cultural relics meet, exchange and share experiences in management, conservation, restoration and mobilize social resources to promote heritage values. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to promote the image of Ninh Binh land and people to domestic and foreign tourists, aiming at the goal of sustainable development between culture and tourism economy .
Mr. Hoang Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Museum, the unit assigned to host the event, said: “This is the first time Ninh Binh province has organized a provincial-level folk culture festival since the merger. Therefore, the event is extremely important, and is welcomed and anticipated by all classes of people. The event contributes to arousing pride and awareness of heritage conservation in the community, while also practically welcoming the success of the 1st Ninh Binh Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 and celebrating Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day November 23, 2025”.
According to the plan, the Festival will have many attractive and meaningful activities such as: performing unique folk cultural performances of typical relics, organizing exchange programs and competitions to learn about cultural heritage between groups, reenacting typical rituals, performances, customs and festivals associated with relics.
The relics participating in this year's Festival include: Tran Temple (Nam Dinh ward) performing the Ngoc Lo palanquin procession and the Water procession to worship the Fish; Non Khe communal house (Yen Tu commune) performing the Non Khe village newspaper festival; Chay communal house (Thanh Binh commune) performing the military drum singing; Tran Thuong temple (Tran Thuong commune) performing the ritual of serving the Tran Saint; Lieu Doi communal house (Thanh Binh commune) performing the Lieu Doi wrestling ritual; Van Cat Palace (Vu Ban commune) reenacting the story of Mother Lieu Hanh's first birth; Tien Huong Palace (Vu Ban commune) practicing the worship of the Mother of the Three Palaces; Quang Cung Palace (Yen Dong commune) reenacting the story of Mother Lieu Hanh's second birth; Dai Bi Pagoda (Nam Truc commune) performing the art of Oi Loi (puppetry).

The first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Typical Monuments is an important event contributing to the promotion of local tourism and culture. The selection of typical monuments to organize the festival not only affirms cultural values, but also contributes to building the image of Ninh Binh as an attractive cultural, spiritual and heritage destination on the Vietnam tourism map.
Ensure the Festival is safe and impressive
At Lanh Giang Temple, Duy Tan Ward - the place chosen to host the Festival, these days, the preparation atmosphere is being actively deployed by the Temple Management Board. The stage areas, exhibition areas, and reception areas for delegates and visitors are all scientifically arranged, ensuring harmony between cultural, spiritual and modern elements, best serving the event.
People's Artist Pham Hai Hau, Keeper of Lanh Giang Temple, shared: “Lanh Giang Temple is a national relic, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to offer incense and perform rituals every year. Being chosen as the venue for the Folk Culture Festival is a great honor for the people of Duy Tan Ward as well as the Temple Management Board. Currently, we are actively renovating the landscape, repairing the infrastructure, arranging the stage area, large electronic boards; at the same time, we have reviewed the entire fire prevention and fighting system, arranged forces to support visitors, so that the event takes place solemnly, safely, demonstrating the true spirit of honoring heritage.”
According to comrade Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Duy Tan Ward People's Committee, immediately after receiving the plan from the Department of Culture and Sports, the ward held a meeting, established a Steering Committee, and assigned specific tasks to each department. The police force, youth union, and women's association were mobilized to participate in supporting and ensuring security, traffic, and fire prevention and fighting. The ward coordinated with the Management Board of the historical and cultural relic of Lanh Giang temple to propagate, inspect, and review the conditions of the wharf, stage, etc. to ensure safety, impression, solemnity, and coziness for people and tourists when attending the Festival.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, Head of the Tran Temple Relic Management Board, Nam Dinh Ward, said: "We have established an Organizing Committee to participate in the Festival, and closely coordinated with the residential groups of Tuc Mac 1 and 2 to select outstanding members. Currently, the performance team consists of more than 30 people, including artisans and non-professional actors who will perform the Nam worship ceremony, perform a folk cultural act and a skit promoting the historical and spiritual values of the Tran Temple Relic Site. The teams are actively practicing, ready to bring to the Festival impressive performances, contributing to introducing the image and traditional beauty of the land where the Tran Dynasty originated to the public."
Ninh Binh is one of the localities with rich folk culture potential in the Northern Delta region. Not only does it have tangible heritages such as pagodas, temples, communal houses, and shrines, but it also possesses a rich intangible cultural treasure, from festivals, performing arts to customs, habits, and folk knowledge.
The organization of the first Ninh Binh Province Folk Culture Festival of Typical Monuments in 2025 is an activity of special significance in the work of preserving and promoting heritage values. This is an opportunity for artisans and cultural workers to meet, exchange and learn from experiences; at the same time, it is a vivid communication activity, so that the younger generation understands and is more proud of their homeland. Thereby, helping folk heritage to be "revived" in the hearts of the public, continuing to build an advanced culture with strong national identity.
