
This is a national-scale art activity, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every three years, to summarize and evaluate the quality of creation, staging and performance of Cheo art by art units nationwide.
During the 14-day festival, art troupes brought to the public and audiences who love Cheo 21 unique and impressive plays. Each play lasted about 120 minutes, exploring the historical and cultural themes of the homeland, harmoniously combining tradition and contemporary life.

Ninh Binh Traditional Arts Theatre participated in the Festival with 4 outstanding plays: "Chieu Van Vuong Tran Trieu", "Huong Tram", "Huyen Su Tran Thuong", "Hong Chau Huyen Nu".
The Organizing Committee awarded 33 Gold Medals and 65 Silver Medals to performing artists. Ninh Binh Traditional Arts Theater won 05 Gold Medals (People's Artist Tran Ngoc Hung, Bui Thi Hien, La Thi Thuan, Duong Thi Dung, People's Artist Huyen Dieu) and 11 Silver Medals to individual actors. In addition, Ninh Binh Traditional Arts Theater won awards from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association: Outstanding Musician (Duong Thanh Nam), Outstanding Orchestra Conductor (Dao Nhu Hong), Outstanding Musician (Lai Hong Toan, Vu Duy Doan). The play "Huong Tram" was awarded the Outstanding Award for the theme of revolutionary war.
The Cheo Festival is also an opportunity to honor collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to the work of preserving and promoting the artistic value of Cheo - a unique national theatrical form, rich in identity and vitality in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people; thereby, affirming the value and lasting vitality of this traditional theatrical form in the midst of contemporary life.
