Martyr Ninh The Thenh, born in 1949, in a poor but patriotic peasant family in a revolutionary tradition-rich countryside, hamlet 7, Gia Hung commune, Ninh Binh province. The martyr was the second son in a family of 6 siblings. Right after leaving high school, heeding the sacred call of the Fatherland and responding to President Ho Chi Minh 's call to fight against the US to save the country on July 17, 1966, sent to compatriots and soldiers nationwide, the young man Ninh The Thenh enthusiastically wrote a volunteer application to join the army. In October 1966, when he was just 17 years old, he officially became a soldier of the Vietnam People's Army when our nation's war against the US to save the country entered its most fierce and fierce phase. The US imperialists implemented the Local War strategy, increased US troops in the South and conducted the first destructive war in the North with air and naval power.
After a period of training new recruits in Thach Binh commune, Nho Quan district, due to his achievements, he was awarded leave by the unit to visit his family. After the Lunar New Year in 1967, he and his unit marched to support the Southern battlefield and was assigned to Company 7, Southeast region. Regardless of any difficult task or circumstance, he excellently completed all assigned tasks and participated with the unit in dozens of large and small battles. In a battle against the US - puppet regime in My Binh commune, Tan Tru district, Long An province, he fought bravely and heroically sacrificed on March 25, 1969, when he was just 20 years old. His body was buried and cared for by the Party Committee, government and people of Long An province at Chau Thanh - Tan Tru martyrs cemetery. With outstanding achievements in training and combat, he was awarded the rank of Sergeant, held the position of Squad Leader, was honored to be admitted to the Vietnam Workers' Party, was posthumously awarded the Third Class Military Exploit Medal, Third Class Liberation Medal, Third Class Glorious Soldier Medal by the State and the unit awarded many certificates of merit.
However, the grave of martyr Ninh The Thanh was incorrect and missing a lot of information (the tombstone reads: Martyr Ninh The Thanh; hometown in the North), so the family did not receive any response from the authorities about the burial place of the martyr. After many times searching for the grave of the martyr, the family received advice and support from the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs (GĐLS), the Southern Representative Office, volunteers from all over the country and the Department of Home Affairs of Long An and Ninh Binh provinces, so all procedures to correct the incorrect information on the tombstone were quickly completed. In particular, the Vietnam Association for Supporting Families of Martyrs, the Southern Representative Office helped with the procedures, supported the exhumation, farewell and contacted the Vietnam Railway Corporation to move the remains free of charge back to their hometown of Ninh Binh.
At the ceremony, representatives of the Provincial Association for Supporting Families of the Dead, the Provincial Youth Center, the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Vi Xuyen Traditional Soldiers Association, the Ninh Binh Province area, the Party Committee, the Gia Hung Commune Government and the people expressed their deep gratitude and forever remembered the merits of martyr Ninh The Thenh who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
