To preserve heritage… the right way!

QTO - 1. At the festival of cultural and folk art clubs, teams from various genres, such as Ca Tru, Tuong Co, Binh Tri Thien folk songs, etc., eagerly competed. The teams all worked hard to practice each performance, bringing the audience unique and attractive performances.

When it came to the performance of a certain club, everyone was eagerly waiting because they knew that the “soul” of the club was a famous, talented, and creative artist. And in fact, the performance was very successful with smooth, deep singing voices that touched the listeners’ emotions, along with impressive, elaborate dance illustrations. However, right after that, many viewers, from the judges and the audience, discovered that this team sang… “lip-sync”!

Many people were disappointed because the festival was an opportunity for clubs to compete, promote, and introduce the beauty of folk culture and arts to the public, especially tourists . In addition, this was also an opportunity to demonstrate the talents of artisans, create an objective artistic playground, and show the results of the local heritage conservation and promotion work over the past time. Although this club did not win the prize, it left a "low note" in the success of the festival.

2. An indignant artisan said that recently, some training courses on fostering and imparting skills in folk culture and arts are still too mechanical and stereotyped in the organization process.

Accordingly, these classes often limit the number of members of a club and by default divide this number equally among the localities. In addition, some clubs located far from the center are also allocated a larger number, however, these clubs are mostly older members. This leads to clubs with many young members who need to be passed on, but can only participate in small numbers.

This reality makes it difficult for the training class to be realized when the number of young people does not meet the requirements. There are even training classes that only mobilize children to participate in training and also perform to report the success of the class to the Organizing Committee on the last day. So when performing, the children are not allowed to attach microphones because they are afraid that "the singing does not meet the requirements" (?!).

3. In recent times, with the efforts of all levels and sectors, many types of folk culture and arts have been preserved and promoted effectively with long-term solutions and plans. In particular, in addition to support from the provincial and central levels, many localities, despite difficulties, have tried to allocate funding for the determination to preserve the heritage of their ancestors.

However, to make this effort successful, it requires the cooperation and contribution from the government, departments, branches, and sectors to each club and the people. In particular, valuing and cherishing each opportunity to preserve and promote heritage is the first priority and must be given top priority. It could be a short-term training course; a competition, a playground for exchange between clubs or large, meaningful events that contribute to promoting heritage and boosting tourism development...

Only then will the heritage of our ancestors truly be preserved, continued and passed on. In addition, it is also necessary to have a systematic assessment of the practicality of heritage conservation and promotion activities to further improve the quality of this work, avoiding the case of organizing "for the sake of it", without considering long-term effectiveness.
