The US deployed F-16 fighter jets and helicopters to intercept and remove the civilian aircraft from restricted airspace after it approached Mr. Biden's home in Delaware.
"At 2:00 p.m. on October 28, a civilian aircraft violated restricted airspace north of Wilmington, Delaware," Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi posted on social network X. "As a precaution, aircraft were dispatched to intercept. The civilian aircraft landed safely at a nearby airport."

According to a statement shared by Guglielmi, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) deployed F-16 fighters and MH-65 helicopters to remove the civilian aircraft from the restricted airspace. The F-16 fighters launched heat-trapping decoys to attract the attention of the civilian pilots.
"There is no impact on the movement of protected persons. The Secret Service is investigating in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration," Guglielmi added.
President Joe Biden was at his home in Wilmington at the time of the incident. He had attended church that evening. Biden often returns to the home on weekends.
In June, the US military deployed six F-16 fighter jets to intercept a small Cessna 560 Citation V aircraft as it entered Washington DC airspace, heading towards restricted airspace above some very sensitive areas such as the US Capitol building and the White House.
The Cessna then crashed near the George Washington National Forest in Virginia, killing all four people on board. According to the US military, the Cessna pilot lost consciousness in the cockpit, causing the plane to completely lose control and enter a restricted area.
