Tien Giang: Improving legal knowledge for women members and people

(ABO) As a member of the Coordinating Council for Legal Education and Dissemination (PBGDPL), the Women's Union at all levels in Tien Giang province is very interested in carrying out legal dissemination and legal aid work for members and women, especially members and women in rural areas and vulnerable groups. Since then, many women have raised their awareness and knowledge of the law, promoting the role and position of women in the family and in society.

In recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has always promoted propaganda and dissemination of legal knowledge related to gender equality and domestic violence prevention to members in many practical and diverse forms, attracting a large number of members and women to participate, contributing to creating positive changes and raising awareness among people in general and women in particular about gender equality, building prosperous, equal, progressive and happy families; gradually limiting domestic violence in the province.

Disseminate the law in many forms.

This is demonstrated in many diverse forms. Women's Unions at all levels in Tien Giang province have coordinated with the provincial State Legal Aid Center to organize 40 legal dissemination and legal aid sessions, with over 1,000 members, women and people attending.

Women's Unions at all levels provided direct legal advice and assistance to 237 women regarding the Law on Marriage and Family and prevention of domestic violence.

Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Kieu Tien said: In recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has focused on propaganda and dissemination of legal knowledge to members and women. From there, equipping legal knowledge, raising awareness and sense of law compliance among cadres, members and women.

At the same time, combine legaleducation with propaganda of traditional ethical values ​​and good cultural lifestyles in families and society for local cadres, members and women.

Supervise state management responsibilities on domestic violence prevention and control; gender-based violence prevention and control at the local level.

In addition, the Women's Union at all levels also invited experts, speakers, and reporters to discuss and share on the following issues: Education on family values; prevention of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and child abuse; prevention of crime in the new situation; health care for women and children; and organizing forums and online competitions to disseminate legal knowledge, life skills, and family care to women's union members and the community.

Notably, through model activities, clubs, groups/teams: "Happy Family", "Women's Branches and Teams without members, husbands, children addicted to drugs and violating the law"; building "Trusted Address", Campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" associated with building new rural areas; model of mobilizing and supporting women to participate in solving social issues related to women...

The "Community Trusted Address" model protects the safety of women and children.

Along with that, the Union at all levels, departments, branches and organizations also promptly pay attention to help and explain to people to better understand the State's regulations related to the policies and laws of the Party and the State; prevent and combat domestic violence, or directly help women resolve family conflicts when problems arise in life.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, President of the Women's Union of Hoi Xuan Commune, Cai Lay District, said that in order to protect the legitimate rights and interests of women, the Women's Union has established, maintained and improved the quality of activities of many legal dissemination models, such as: Legal consulting group, women's legal club, trusted address in the community, women's group for preventing and combating domestic violence, happy family building club ... The models have contributed to meeting the need to learn about the law, creating a healthy, useful and practical living environment for women members.

Disseminate the law to every household.

Particularly in Tan Hoa Dong commune, Tan Phuoc district, the Association always directs the work of PBGDPL to women in residential areas, focusing on vulnerable women, those in difficult circumstances, especially those with disabilities, those at risk of violating the law. Thereby, women are more confident in life, there are no more cases of violence, and all families meet the standards of typical cultural families.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, President of the Women's Union of Tan Hoa Dong commune, shared: Over the years, the Executive Committee of the Union has always grasped the thoughts and aspirations of cadres, members, and women and proposed that the heads of local Party committees and authorities organize meetings and dialogues with women. Thereby, helping members and women understand and implement the Party's policies and the State's laws. At the same time, helping Party committees and authorities grasp and promptly resolve the people's legitimate recommendations, creating consensus in implementing policies, laws, programs, and projects in the locality.

Disseminate the law in many diverse and rich forms.

In addition, the Women's Union at all levels also actively participates in building laws and policies directly related to women, families and children by organizing monitoring meetings, direct dialogues with local Party committees and authorities, collecting opinions from people, members and women to contribute to building and amending the Constitution, Labor Code, Land Law, Law on Marriage and Family, etc.
