The economy is growing well.
According to the socio-economic situation report for May and 5 months of the City Statistics Office, in the first 5 months of 2025, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at 66,271 billion VND, an increase of 27.5% over the same period in 2024.
Accordingly, tourism continues to make an important contribution to the service sector with the total number of visitors to accommodation establishments serving the first 5 months of 2025 estimated at 4.6 million, up 20.7% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 2.2 million, up 35.8%; domestic visitors are estimated at 2.5 million, up 10.1% over the same period in 2024.
Tourism revenue in the first 5 months is estimated at VND 1,588 billion, accounting for 2.4% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue and increasing by 19.9% over the same period in 2024. Revenue from accommodation and catering services is estimated at VND 13,128 billion, accounting for 19.8% of the total, increasing by 24.4% over the same period in 2024. This result affirms the attractiveness of Da Nang tourism brand, and at the same time shows the effectiveness of promotion, advertising and diversification of tourism products in the context of a strong market recovery.
Along with tourism, other consumer services grew strongly with major contributions from real estate, healthcare, education, entertainment and support services. Specifically, other service revenue in the past 5 months was estimated at VND15,625 billion, up 61% over the same period last year.
In May 2025, Da Nang's transportation industry recorded impressive recovery and growth thanks to the accelerated progress of transport infrastructure projects along with policies to stimulate tourism and support businesses. Industry-wide revenue increased sharply in most areas such as passenger and cargo transportation, warehousing, and postal delivery. In the first 5 months, the total industry revenue was estimated at VND 11,468 billion, up 16.4% over the same period last year.
The growth of the transportation industry plays an important role in the supply chain and the development of logistics and import and export of the city. In the first 5 months of 2025, the total import and export turnover of goods is estimated at 1.45 billion USD, an increase of 10.1% over the same period in 2024; of which: goods export is estimated at 843 million USD, an increase of 10.9%; goods import is estimated at 604 million USD, an increase of 8.9%. The trade balance continues to maintain a trade surplus of 238 million USD.
It is estimated that in the first 5 months of 2025, the city's industrial production index (IIP) will increase by 11.81% over the same period in 2024. Notably, all 4 main industries achieved positive growth rates: the key processing and manufacturing industry increased by 12.09%; production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning increased by 4.73%; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment activities increased by 13.44%; mining activities increased by 11.02%. The consumption index of the processing and manufacturing industry in the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 8.69% over the same period; the labor utilization index in the first 5 months of 2025 increased by 6.89% over the same period.

Continue to implement economic growth solutions
According to the report on the direction and administration of the City People's Committee and the socio-economic situation in May 2025, in June, departments, branches, and district and commune People's Committees focused on completing assigned tasks to ensure the target of double-digit economic growth.
In particular, units proactively advise on preparing human resources, infrastructure, and information systems according to the 2-level model, ensuring effective and timely implementation of the arrangement of administrative units at all levels, without interrupting tasks. In addition, focus on implementing tasks assigned by the Central Government, actively removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the progress of investment procedures for large projects; speeding up the progress of site clearance and disbursement of public investment capital.
Accordingly, the Department of Science and Technology focuses on advising the City People's Committee to effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
The Da Nang Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence (DSAC, Management Board of High-Tech Parks and Industrial Parks) continues to advise on the implementation of activities to promote the development of semiconductor microchips and artificial intelligence, and effectively coordinate the implementation of the project on Development of Semiconductor Microchips and Artificial Intelligence in the city. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to implement programs and activities to promote tourism during peak seasons such as: Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2025, Da Nang Enjoy Festival 2025...
According to Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, during the peak season of events and festivals, the Department of Industry and Trade organizes trade promotion activities such as the Vietnamese Goods Fair - Honoring OCOP products from June 11 to 16, the Da Nang Summer Promotion Season program - Mega Sale Da Nang 2025 from June 12 to 15...
During the month, the department submitted to the City People's Committee a plan to develop specialized streets, night streets, and night markets in the city; and advised on other issues related to investment in construction, market infrastructure business, market exploitation and management in the area.
Another important task is to continue to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to complete the submission to the Prime Minister for approval of the project to establish a free trade zone and the decision to establish the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, thereby serving as a basis for implementing the following contents to ensure the quality and progress set forth.
