Jeju Province wants to open fixed direct flights with provinces and cities of Vietnam

Governor of Jeju, a famous tourist island in Korea - Mr. Oh Young Hoon, in a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho on October 8, emphasized the importance of opening a fixed direct flight route between Jeju Island and Vietnam.

During the meeting to discuss measures to support and promote cooperation between Jeju Island of Korea and localities of Vietnam, the two sides discussed measures to promote cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, labor,education , and fisheries.

Governor Oh Young Hoon said that by October 2024, there will be 10 irregular routes per month between Jeju and Vietnam.

However, he said that in order to enhance practical exchanges and cooperation, it is necessary to expand regular fixed routes, and suggested that relevant agencies of the two countries cooperate to promote it. In the immediate future, Jeju aims to soon open direct flights to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi .

Jeju Island government established a sister-country relationship with Kien Giang province of Vietnam in May 2008 and in August 2023, Jeju province established an official exchange relationship with Da Nang city government to maintain and develop cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture, agriculture and fisheries.

In particular, through the ASEAN Plus Alpha (+α) policy, Jeju province wishes to promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of future industry as well as renewable energy, while enhancing exchanges and cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and tourism./.
