The Provincial People's Committee directs provincial departments, branches, sectors, and mass organizations; People's Committees of communes and wards on organizing the Kathina ceremony and Ok Om Bok festival in 2025 in the province.
The Kathina ceremony is a traditional ceremony of Khmer Theravada Buddhism, held annually after monks finish the rainy season retreat, from October 8 to November 4. This is not only a religious ceremony but also a cultural festival of the community, where people come together to preserve cultural heritage, strengthen national unity, and build a cultural life in increasingly developed residential areas.
After the Kathina ceremony, monks and Khmer people held the Ok Om Bok festival, which took place on November 5. The Ok Om Bok festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage, and is held annually according to customs and practices to preserve and promote the nation's fine traditional cultural values, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere, thereby encouraging everyone to compete in labor production, building and defending the Fatherland.
In order for the Khmer people to organize and celebrate the Kathina and Ok Om Bok festivals joyfully, healthily, unitedly, economically and safely, the Provincial People's Committee requests to continue to effectively implement the programs and policies of the Party and the State for the Khmer people, especially the National Target Program on socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, promote the will of self-reliance, self-reliance, enthusiastically compete in labor production, study and follow the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh, contributing to the completion of the socio-economic development goals of the province in 2025.
