The National Table Tennis Championship for Outstanding Players was first held in 1988 in Hanoi and has been held annually ever since. The tournament aims to evaluate the training and development of outstanding athletes from provinces, cities, and sectors; and to provide opportunities for athletes to compete, improve their skills, and hone their mental fortitude and tactical abilities.

Through this tournament, scouts will select the best performing athletes for the national team to compete in international competitions in the future. The tournament is not only an opportunity for table tennis fans to witness exciting and dramatic matches between Vietnam's top players, but also a chance for young players to gain experience, showcase their talent, and contribute to promoting the practice and competition of table tennis in provinces, cities, sectors, and the country as a whole.
Last year, Nguyen Anh Tu (Hanoi) and Mai Hoang My Trang ( Ho Chi Minh City) won the men's and women's titles respectively. This year, they continue to participate in this tournament alongside other outstanding players such as: Dinh Anh Hoang, Nguyen Duc Tuan, Doan Ba Tuan Anh, Le Dinh Duc, Nguyen Thi Nga, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Bui Ngoc Lan, Tran Mai Ngoc…
The 2025 National Table Tennis Championship for Outstanding Players will take place from now until October 31st. Table tennis fans nationwide are eagerly awaiting high-level, spectacular matches in Hai Phong city.
Immediately after this tournament, the 10 players named in the call-up list announced by the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation a few days ago will officially begin training to prepare for the goal of winning a gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games.
