According to information from the Vietnam Table Tennis Federation, 10 players were called up to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, including 5 male players: Dinh Anh Hoang, Nguyen Anh Tu, Nguyen Duc Tuan, Doan Ba Tuan Anh and Le Dinh Duc. In the women's category, the five names selected are Nguyen Thi Nga, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, Bui Ngoc Lan, Tran Mai Ngoc and Mai Hoang My Trang. These are all experienced players who have achieved success in international and regional tournaments.

This is the first training session in 2025 for the national table tennis team to be established, with the sole purpose of preparing for the 33rd SEA Games. Previously, the Federation proposed a list of 20 athletes, but after reviewing, the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department has reduced it to 10 outstanding faces, meeting the professional and performance requirements.

The team’s goal is to strive to win at least one gold medal at the upcoming Games. Among the players called up, Dinh Anh Hoang and Tran Mai Ngoc are the duo who brought home the gold medal in mixed doubles for Vietnam at the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia in 2023.

Last year, Vietnamese table tennis made its mark at the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship in Malaysia with 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Notably, the championship of Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, along with medals of Nguyen Duc Tuan, Nguyen Thi Nga, Mai Hoang My Trang and Nguyen Anh Tu, contributed to affirming the team's position in the region.

According to the plan, the team will gather in Hanoi on November 7, under the guidance of head coach Vu Van Trung. The whole team will have more than a month of intensive training, focusing on technical tactics, teamwork ability and international competition mentality.
