(CLO) With the theme of nature, artist Bui Le Dung has created many impressive works. Among them, the street corners of Hanoi are drawn by the multi-talented artist in the most realistic and vivid way.

On December 8, the opening ceremony of Van Art Gallery and the exhibition of paintings by artist Bui Le Dung (born in 1965, Hanoi) with the theme "Acrylic - Street" was held in Hanoi, marking the change in work and living environment of the talented artist.

Painter Bui Le Dung said that the exhibition space displays nearly 60 of his paintings with the main theme of nature. These are the works that he is most fond of, are the real trips, experiences and feelings to put his thoughts into each work.

“For example, if I were to paint West Lake, if I were in Tuy Hoa ( Phu Yen ), I certainly wouldn’t be able to paint West Lake realistically and sharply. Therefore, real-life experience is very important. Only when an artist goes to the field can he feel and fully portray the soul of the work,” he said.

Talking about the idea of opening an exhibition, artist Bui Le Dung said he had the idea since he was 20 years old. Before that, he had exhibited paintings at Trang Tien, but at that time it was difficult so the scale and nature were not suitable.

“Painting is a daily thing, but sometimes looking back I feel I am not confident enough so I do not have the inspiration to display my work. And now I am confident and have the conditions so I want to open a painting exhibition for the public to visit and let everyone know about my work,” Le Dung confided.

According to the artist, opening an exhibition helps him connect with more friends and colleagues and spread his passion for painting to everyone, especially young people.

Perhaps, for Le Dung, the work that impressed him most was the painting of a girl, although the subject was not about streets, wards, or nature.

“When I paint about the streets and nature, I have a lot of emotions because I was born and raised in Hanoi, so I feel very clearly about the space and time here. In particular, the theme of nature is always around me, I am attached to it and when choosing a topic, I have to love it so that I can paint that work as realistically and vividly as possible," artist Le Dung shared.

Artist Bui Le Dung added that he records images of Hanoi every day, no matter which street corner of the capital he passes by, he must record it. However, Le Dung thinks that his perspective is a bit old-fashioned compared to other people.

“For example, in Hanoi in 2022, I took a photo of the Opera House and when I posted it on social media, many friends and colleagues commented that the photo looked like it was taken in the 70s,” the artist recalled.

Le Dung also confided that if he compared his painting skills with other artists, he was still far behind, but he was very satisfied with the achievements he had made. Although his main job was not painting, the artistic quality was always "deep in his blood", urging him every day to create vivid and realistic paintings.

In addition, artist Le Dung revealed that perhaps Hanoi is an endless source of inspiration for him to maintain his love for painting until now.

"After this exhibition, I will definitely open another topic about still life (flowers). I like banana flowers the most and will go into more detail about this topic. Because I find banana flowers' shapes and colors very special, outstanding and very natural," he said.

Commenting on Bui Le Dung's paintings, artist Hoang Thi Bich Lien (friend) said: "The paintings displayed at the exhibition are the result of Dung's tireless artistic work.

In my opinion, when each artist opens a solo exhibition, there must be a specific theme. Today, the theme "Street" has shown me that Dung is a multi-talented artist and loves the street corners around his home.

Painter Le Dung has performed very well by drawing very impressive pictures, spaces, and typical features of Hanoi, which are certain successes of an artist.

Painting exhibition by artist Bui Le Dung with the theme "Acrylic - Street" takes place from December 8 to January 8, 2025 at Van Art Gallery, 10-12 Yen Hoa, Tay Ho, Hanoi.
