Recently, the new Phong Chau bridge connecting the two banks of the Red River was inaugurated and put into operation. The bridge is 383.3 m long, with an initial total investment of 635 billion VND from the central budget, but thanks to strict management and application of optimal technical solutions, the implementation cost was only about 438 billion VND, saving nearly 200 billion VND compared to the original estimate.

The newly inaugurated Phong Chau Bridge, put into use, opens up new development space, promoting the development of industry, trade, tourism and services in the area.
The new Phong Chau Bridge not only meets technical requirements, ensures safety and aesthetics, but also opens up new development space for the area, restores the vital traffic axis of National Highway 32C, shortens travel time, reduces transportation costs, and at the same time promotes the development of industry, trade, tourism and services in the area.
Phu Tho is located in the Northwest of Hanoi Capital, playing a transit role between the Red River Delta and the Northern Midlands and Mountains. With its strategic location, bordering 7 provinces and cities and located on major economic corridors, Phu Tho increasingly affirms its role as an inter-regional center, a bridge between the dynamic regions of the North.
In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has deployed and completed many key inter-regional and inter-provincial transport projects according to the plan, including: New Phong Chau Bridge; Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway; road connecting Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway with Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway; Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong high-speed railway; project to renovate and expand National Highway 2, Vinh Yen - Viet Tri section; project to connect Hoa Binh - Hanoi region and Son La Expressway (Hoa Binh - Moc Chau); project to build Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh road and renovate and upgrade National Highway 6, Xuan Mai - Hoa Binh section; project to connect Luong Son - Xuan Mai town, Hanoi (phase 1)...
With the orientation of "infrastructure first, development later", Phu Tho is forming a modern, multi-modal transportation network. More than 300km of highways pass through, forming an inter-regional transportation network connecting smoothly to Hanoi, the Northwestern provinces and international border gates. The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway, with a length of about 99km through the province, includes 5 main stations (including 4 mixed stations and 1 passenger station), is being upgraded synchronously, with 2 more technical stations expected to be completed before 2030. In addition, the province has 670km of inland waterways, connecting from Lao Cai through Viet Tri to Hanoi and Hai Phong. Along with that, the logistics system is increasingly developing, especially connecting with the ICD Binh Xuyen logistics center, contributing to making Phu Tho an important logistics center of the region and the whole country.
In parallel, the province pays special attention to developing transport infrastructure to serve industrial zones, clusters and key tourist destinations such as: Thuy Van Industrial Park, Phu Ninh Industrial Park, Ba Thien II Industrial Park, Song Lo II Industrial Park, Hung Temple Tourist Area, Thanh Thuy... Thereby, supporting multi-sector economic development, associated with exploiting cultural - historical potential and eco-tourism.
The synchronization between transport modes has contributed to reducing logistics costs, improving competitiveness, supporting import and export and connecting supply chains. Up to now, Phu Tho has attracted 725 operating FDI projects, becoming an attractive destination for foreign investors. In particular, many projects from Japan, Korea, and Singapore have operated effectively such as: Toyota, Honda, Piaggio, BYD, JNTC, Namuga... creating a spillover effect in the supply chain and attracting more investors in the same industry. In the first 9 months of 2025, the province's state budget revenue achieved high results, estimated at more than 42 trillion VND, of which domestic revenue was nearly 37 trillion VND. GRDP growth rate reached 10.22%, ranking 4th nationwide and leading the Northern Midlands and Mountains region, exceeding the target assigned by the Government.
To realize the goal of becoming an industrial, service, logistics and tourism center of the region and the whole country, Phu Tho province continues to identify the development of transport infrastructure as one of three strategic breakthroughs. The province is focusing on diversifying investment forms, mobilizing social resources through public-private partnership (PPP); promoting disbursement of public investment capital, especially key projects of the province and regional linkage projects to connect areas of Phu Tho province after the merger, including: Inter-regional traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh road with National Highway 70B and National Highway 32C to Yen Bai province (old); parallel route of Hanoi - Lao Cai railway (section from National Highway 2C to Hop Thinh - Dao Tu road); Hoa Binh - Moc Chau expressway, connecting road Viet Tri - Hoa Binh; Ring Road 5 of the Capital region (section from Vinh Thinh bridge to IC5 intersection)...
Along with that, Phu Tho strengthens connectivity in the economic corridor of Kunming - Lao Cai - Yen Bai - Phu Tho - Hai Phong, gradually becoming a freight transit center and strategic resort of the Northern Midlands and Mountains region.
