Connecting supply and consumption
Currently, Da Nang's retail sector is facing a great opportunity for breakthroughs as the economy recovers strongly and the market continues to expand. According to statistics from the city's Department of Industry and Trade, total retail sales in September reached VND 11,505 billion (an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period last year), bringing the cumulative retail sales for the first nine months to VND 103,929 billion (an increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2024).
The domestic market maintained stable growth. The supply of goods was abundant, and prices remained stable. Businesses boosted production and sales. Numerous trade, cultural, and tourism events held in the city contributed to stimulating consumer demand and promoting the development of the retail sector.
Entering October, total retail sales of goods increased by 15.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Cumulative retail sales for the first 10 months reached VND 114,744 billion, an increase of 16.7% compared to the same period. Ms. Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated that retail continues to affirm its leading role in boosting consumption and making a significant contribution to the city's service sector.
The supply of goods is abundant, prices are stable, and there have been no unusual fluctuations. Trade and service activities have been promoted through the organization of trade fairs and conferences to connect businesses, promote trade, advertise products, and expand markets for local enterprises. Retail sales in the city have maintained stable growth over the past 10 months, creating a positive foundation for production, business, and consumption in the remaining months of the year. The supply of essential goods continues to be ensured.

Significantly, Da Nang's retail sector is not only measured by revenue growth, but more importantly by the synergy and trust between consumers and retailers.
Ms. Nguyen Ai Nghia (Xuyen Trung neighborhood, Hoi An ward) said: “If I need to buy traditional goods like rush mats, freshwater fish, or fruits and vegetables, I go to the market. If I need to buy electronic goods, I go to shopping malls. If I want to buy convenient goods, I go to mini-supermarkets or smart grocery stores. The goods are diverse, abundant, of good quality, reasonably priced, and guaranteed to be from reputable brands.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Mai, the owner of a mini-supermarket on Ly Thuong Kiet Street (Hoi An Ward), said: "In recent days, purchasing power has been abundant, especially for essential goods for daily consumption. Our promotional programs and consumer stimulus initiatives have been well received by consumers."

Diverse sales points
In recent years, Da Nang city has developed diverse retail formats, harmoniously combining modern commerce, traditional commerce, and e-commerce. The city's Department of Industry and Trade is advising the People's Committee to invest in the construction of a new Con Market and the Hoa Phuoc wholesale market…
Da Nang has identified promoting the application of e-commerce in the retail sector as one of the key tasks to realize its goal of building a smart, modern, and dynamic city. Following the expansion of its administrative boundaries, the city has set an urgent need to apply digital technology to the retail sector. This is a crucial solution to adapt to new consumer trends, optimize the goods distribution system, and strengthen connections between manufacturers, retailers, and consumers.
Recently, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2326/QD-TTg approving the Strategy for the Development of Vietnam's Retail Market until 2030, with a vision to 2050. The strategy aims to develop a civilized, modern, and sustainable retail market, aligned with domestic trade orientation and consistent with the trends of the digital, green, and sharing economy. Simultaneously, the strategy seeks to connect production with consumption, increase domestic purchasing power, and promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods.
This strategy is entirely consistent with Da Nang's development orientation for the commercial sector. The city is focusing on strongly developing business models based on digitalization. E-commerce, e-commerce platforms, and multi-channel retail are inevitable trends in Da Nang's retail industry to meet the smart shopping needs of consumers.
Da Nang's commercial sector now boasts a full range of major retail brands such as Vincom Plaza Da Nang, Lotte Mart Da Nang, Indochina Riverside Mall, Helio Center, Go! Da Nang, Danavi Mart Da Nang, Co.opMart Da Nang, etc.
The city's sustainable and green retail sector is expected to further develop with the official opening of the MM Mega Da Nang Super Center in Hoa Khanh ward on November 17th. This is MM Mega Market's first "Super Center" model in Vietnam, with a total investment of 20 million USD.
Many expect a new wave of dynamic commercial investment to continue to unfold in Da Nang, creating an attractive destination and affirming the city's deeply integrated retail sector on the global trade map.
A highlight for Da Nang's retail sector in the coming period is the year-end Mega Sale Holiday, organized by the Department of Industry and Trade, along with the Da Nang Product Exhibition 2025 (expected in December 2025).
Alongside this are diverse trade promotion programs, e-commerce initiatives, and product promotion in Da Nang, linked to the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign.
The Department of Industry and Trade continues to research and propose the establishment of a city-level center for showcasing typical OCOP products; and to develop an information channel and a series of videos introducing and promoting Da Nang's OCOP products…
