
At the meeting, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai affirmed that the EU is one of the most important partners of Vietnam. Trade and investment cooperation, especially in high-tech industries and knowledge-based economy, is the EU's strength, and Vietnam also wants to learn from its experience for mutual development.
Regarding the Economic and Financial Committee, Chairman of the Committee Phan Van Mai said that the Economic and Financial Committee is one of the eight specialized agencies of the National Assembly of Vietnam; it is responsible for advising and assisting the National Assembly in performing three functions of legislation, supervision, and deciding on important issues of the country in the fields of: economic management, finance, currency, state budget, land, banking, business activities, state audit and other projects assigned by the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee. With a wide, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary scope of work, each session, the Committee undertakes a relatively large amount of work, including issues of budget, investment, management and use of public assets and national resources...
In the context of Vietnam's deep integration into the global economy, the Committee wishes to continue to have international cooperation, exchange, learn from experiences, and access international advances to successfully complete the tasks assigned to the Committee, especially in promulgating and effectively enforcing laws.

Thanking the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee for taking the time to receive the delegation, IMCO President Anna Cavazzini agreed with the assessments of the Vietnam - EU cooperation relationship, and at the same time, stated that the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and EU partners is very open, with much room for development.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee said that the Vietnamese National Assembly is continuing to improve the legal framework to create a healthy business environment and protect consumers in the face of the strong development of e-commerce. In particular, the Law on E-commerce is the most direct law; in addition, the draft Law on Digital Transformation also builds a number of principled regulations related to the digital economy.
Appreciating Vietnam's efforts in building a legal framework for this new field, IMCO President Anna Cavazzini believes that Vietnam's e-commerce will continue to develop strongly in both scale and growth rate.

With very practical exchanges, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Committee Phan Van Mai hopes that the members of the IMCO delegation will actively support and cooperate in exchanging experiences with the Economic and Financial Committee; thereby contributing to promoting the good relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the European Parliament to develop more effectively and substantially.
