On the morning of October 28th, leaders from the Ministry of Construction, along with representatives from numerous businesses, participated in a field trip to the IAQ and ECM plant of Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam in Vinh Tan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology, Environment and Building Materials (Ministry of Construction) Nguyen Huu Tien said that the survey trip was an opportunity for management agencies and businesses to exchange experiences, promote cooperation and replicate green and smart production models nationwide.

“Panasonic’s IAQ and ECM plant is a prime example of applying green technology, smart manufacturing, and environmental friendliness. It is a testament to a sustainable development approach where technology, innovation, and environmental awareness blend together to bring clean air and energy-efficient solutions to the community,” Mr. Tien said.

Representing the company, General Director of Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam, Masashi Sakabe, expressed his honor in welcoming the delegation.

Mr. Masashi Sakabe stated that Panasonic hopes to share its production processes and foundational technologies through this visit, which have helped the corporation become one of the leading infrastructure solution providers in Vietnam.

“For us, people – including customers, employees, and the environment – are always at the heart of all our activities. Panasonic is committed to working alongside the Government and partners to develop more green buildings and smart cities, aiming for a green, modern, and sustainable Vietnam,” said Mr. Sakabe.

During the meeting, Panasonic presented various green solutions for electricity, water, and air, which are applied in the factory's production system. Delegates assessed these as practical suggestions for designing and operating green buildings and green cities in the future, especially as Vietnam aims for net-zero emissions by 2050.

Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam is one of seven member companies of the Panasonic Group in Vietnam, developing manufacturing and business activities in three main areas: electrical equipment for construction, lighting, and indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions.

With a philosophy of "Contributing to Society" spanning over 100 years, Panasonic has always considered harmony with the environment as a guiding principle in its development. The company is currently implementing the Panasonic GREEN IMPACT strategy, aiming to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2030 and contribute to a global reduction of 300 million tons of CO₂ by 2050.

According to Mr. Sakabe, this goal is concretized through three pillars: energy saving, promoting the circular economy, and using renewable energy throughout the entire production and business chain.

“Vietnam is a key market for Panasonic in Southeast Asia. The factory in Binh Duong is built to the same high standards as the Tsu factory in Japan, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmentally friendly technological innovation and reducing CO₂ emissions in all production processes,” he said.

Representatives from the Ministry of Construction assessed that Panasonic's model is a practical example for domestic businesses to learn from in the process of green transformation. "Developing green buildings and sustainable production is not just a trend, but a mandatory requirement for Vietnam to achieve its green growth and sustainable development goals," Mr. Nguyen Huu Tien emphasized.

The Vietnam Green Building and Green Transport Week 2025, themed “Innovation and promoting the sustainable development of Green Buildings and Green Transport,” took place in Ho Chi Minh City on October 29th.

This is the first time the event has expanded to integrate the construction and transportation sectors, aiming to promote innovation, the application of advanced technologies, digital transformation, and green energy solutions, towards the Net Zero 2050 goal.
